Akra exhaust has no cross over?
Akra does this on their setup. With cats, is an x necessary or any crossover?
i also noticed the same thing with the akra setup... it was basically straight pipe... but some of the hard core racers such as dadsc63 said that h/x was better i believe...
i have lth and an exhaust system and the only crossover is where the resonator would be... a small x-pipe... i kind of miss the louder sound of the lth with oem mufflers though...

I read that an X only helps with evening sound if you have cats. If you have headers and no cats, x helps with scavenging.
So if I install my 300 cell cats, x doesn't do much.......
The x made the tone very smooth and constant at low rpm's. The h or straights give the amg sound. On Monday, I'll get rid of the x.
I'm sure lll get the backpressure by installing 300 cell metal core cats.
Is it better to install cats closer to the header or in the area that the secondaries were?
So I'm going to putt the 2 cats in place of where my x is and finish it off with straights.
I think that should give the car enough back pressure, remove the stink of catless, and make it sound like an AMG should.
I've noticed that with an X, I only get the good sound when I'm really on it....at cruising and normal acceleration, it sounds deep, constant, and lacks any growl.
Bad430benz had it right when he went straight pipe all the way. There may be a small loss in power.....especially with 3" all the way - but the sound it made was awesome. I think he was catless and supercharged.
Plus the MBH headers are killer - you get the scavenging with the tri-y. The other mhp style headers probably benefit more from an x than these headers. Kudos for designing some awesome headers Mike. Every shop that sees them is blown away and says "these must have been really expensive."
