To the OP thanks so much for the write up! Got me off my A$$ and finally wrapped my grill too.

I think you started a trend

I got my grill last night. Got the right one. However, I'm not that thrilled with the quality. The center star looks good, but the quality of the chrome finish around the perimeter of the grill looks pretty weak up close. I'm concerned it might peel over time because I see some slight imperfections and bubbling along some of the edges. Can any of you guys confirm that yours is the same way?

The center star doesn't have this problem. Does anyone know if the center star is a genuine OEM star? The ebay description says it is, but I don't want to take it apart to check for fear I might break something.

Yeah, quality is not 100% in the chrome edge at SOME points. Not bad though.

If it goes bad, plastidip black!

Agreed. Anyone confirm the center star is OEM?

I think the centre star is OEM. The chrome finish on it doesnt have the tatty edges like the rest of the chrome in some places.

The chrome on our cars is polished stainless steel and not chromed steel. Test it with a magnet. Maybe this grill is stainless steel as well just not as well stamped out so the edges are a little rough. The star may be too difficult to set up a die for, on a limited production run, so they opted to use the OEM star.

Just to be crystal clear, all the trim and grill have been wrapped correct not paint ?

What type of wrapping is that ?

Pervious owners work... wrapped rear and side trim and bottom front center bumper. debadged rear, painted emblems, painted grill, smoke side markers, painted fog surrounds (I might plastidip these... away from the eye and constantly touching up) ... think that's it for exterior...

I have an old grill from a fender bender that I plastidipped for basement decoration... I'm no expert in application, but I find the color inconsistent and question the longevity thru northeast winters.

Switched out my 2011 grill for a Tech55 single fin. As others have stated, if you look close the chrome isn't perfect around a couple edges, but overall I'm pleased. Great write up by the OP.

Did mine a few weeks ago and never got around to posting a pic, so...
I simply sprayed the outside edges with some gloss black. This grill gave the front of car an entirely different and updated look that I'm happy with.

Looks good Carbon Dated. I looked for a similar 507 style grill without success.

Lol, if you've ever popped open the hood, you'll see that it's screwed on with screws. All you need to do to remove the screws and put the new piece on and screw it back in.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but this is the only thing in the recent few years on removing the grill... After talking off the plastic piece that sits on top and connects to the intake, do I just push the grill on the lower lip? I'm kind of afraid given I cracked a clip that way on the DRL plates.

dont be sorry... right move

find a you tube video on any c series grill removal... that’s what did... our is only slightly different but it gave me the confidence of where to push.

i recall being far out of my comfort zone on how hard I had to push but all was ok

I watched some C class grill removals. But C class grill is not the same as ours right?

Okay I got mine to come out. It is just pushing it in/up, but unlike all guides where the center's pushed first, I pushed my outside first.

I still think a C class grill will fit, just that top part will be a part of the whole grill instead of sitting on the lip of the hood... but might be harder to open the hood that way.

.
How is the quality of the black-mesh portion color wise? Is it spray painted where it can chip over time or is the black color-impregnated into the plastic?
