Shocks/Coil Overs
I have a C63 Sedan.
It's highly modified engine wise, so i'm looking at the suspension now.
It's lowered on H&R's with 19" wheels.
The ride quality isn't the best, when i hit bumps and potholes it really dives into them with little to no rebound. Feels rough and feels as though the shocks aren't working properly.
Took the car to mercedes and another workshop and they said they are fine.
Also the other issue is, when i go over bumps, potholes i hear a 'psh psh' from the driver's side shock (i can only assume its the shock). Only comes from the driver's side as i've sat in the passenger seat while someone has driven my car and i can't hear anything from that side.
Is this common with all your C63's? Do you get the same noise?
The reason i'm contemplating Coilovers or Shocks is to elminate that noise.
I was told not to get coil overs if i'm satisfied with my current ride height which I am.
So the workshop recommended Bilstein B8 Shocks.
- Will changing to Bilstein B8 Shocks improve my ride and eliminate the 'psh psh' air noise when i go over bumps?
- If i'm satisfied with my ride height should i just go coil overs or stick with upgrading my shocks?

Coilovers give you the possibility of adjusting the height at your convenience plus adjusting the rebound and compression. Therefore far more combo than simple shocks and H&R.

Yeah. I'm really happy with my ride height.
I'm more interested in eliminating the air noise over bumps.
Would changing the shocks to B8's do that?
Does anyone else experience that noise? I can only hear it with the drivers window down. It's driving me insane!

It might, but the sound you are hearing is perfectly normal. I suppose with a better strut and shock combo like KW. Some forums will chime in soon with their experience with KW's

Thanks for replying!
Yeah it's normal but very annoying
I hate the current ride because it feels very hard over bumps, feels as tho it falls into bumps with no rebound at all.
And the noise a annoys me.
The steering is so sensitive and light too.
I've been driving around in another car for a few days so I really notice the difference now

I used to run H&R springs on OEM shocks and I don't recall any "air" noise. The ride was hard now that I recently installed KW V3 I've noticed the difference. So maybe if you install good shocks it will fix that for you.
But if you have to pay the price of coilovers i would choose that option instead.

I've personally never had a set of coilovers that wasn't stiff. Even with the shock compression adjustment all the way down. That being said, the best handling car I've had was on coilovers. However, if ride quality is important to you, I'd recommend a good set of adjustable shocks with the H&R springs.

On an aside, I don't think bilstein makes Coilovers for our cars.

Bump.
Need more info before i make the purchase of B8 Shocks.
My main goal is to eliminate that air sound over bumps and to improve rebound on potholes and bumps seeing as i'm lowered on H&R springs.
To purchase B8 Bilstein shocks or not purchase.. that is the question.
