parts.com rear brake pad part number

i was looking at parts.com for the OE rear brake pads and it has part numbers 0054202520 and 0064207820. about a $100 difference.

my car doesn't have the performance pack. i'm being told 0054202520 won't work. $112.50

if you search through brakes and find the pads there, you find the cheaper one...

but if you go through rear suspension and then brake components, you find part 0064207820. $217.50

I was on that website the other day and noticed the change in design.
Much better and user friendly right now
As for your rear brake pads i think the cheaper one will work as well. Who is telling you it's not?
Our rear pads are not as important as our front pads since majority of the braking is done by the front. Now both part #s show under C63 so I would go for the cheaper one.

parts.com is telling me that the cheaper ones won't work. yet i don't understand how there are more than 2 types of rear pads for the 2010 c63.

Did you cross check with another part website?
You can even call your MB dealer to double check that information. Maybe if you do a little search in here? I think i saw a thread a while back from a member ordering brake pads from parts.com showing one price but then ended up paying a little bit more. I don't recall which member.

well i've searched online for both part numbers... and they both seems to bring up information that they are brake pads...

i haven't contacted the dealership... i just posted here before doing that...

i've also contacted that member and he said the same thing happened to him... i'm just checking to see if the mbworld c63 community has run into this...

and parts.com messaging system is terrible... you send them a message, and they reply... but you can't reply to the email from what i've experienced... you have to go back and go through the 'contact us' page... their emails says to go to 'your account' and then click on 'messages' but there is no such thing on their site...

and you have to provide your vin number separately by contacting them again through the contact us page... updating your vin in your account doesn't attach it to your order... they said that their system isn't working properly...

anyway, if no one knows, i'll contact the dealership and see if they will provide me any info...

called dealership to verify part numbers

0054202520 - this is NOT for the c63, but other models like the e63 - $112.50

0064207820 - this is the CORRECT part number for the c63 rear oem pads -$217.50

I wonder why the E63 brake pads are cheaper than the C63???!!!
E class is supposed to be more expensive than a c class
Are they any difference on the rear brake pads between E63 and C63?

Good question. Maybe there are more C63s out there than E63s?

To the OP, if finding OEM pads are that trouble-some, why not go with aftermarkets?

didn't realize selecting pads from that website was going to be this troublesome... either way it's all figured out now... =)

Parts.com has had plenty of time to fix this 'mistake' of wrong part number and price on their website. I placed my order in the middle of November 2013. That's six months.

At this point, it appears to me to be PURPOSEFUL BAIT & SWITCH.

I won't be using them ever again, but as long as they keep getting away with this one buyer at a time I doubt that they'll change their ways.

The P31 brakes (red calipers) take different pads. I believe they're the same size physically but are a harder compound. That could be a source of confusion as well.

Here's a German site that lists base and P31 front pads and their OEM numbers, but they don't show rear pads. When you search on either OEM number you get hits for lots of models. I think there is a lot of physical interchangeability of pads across model lines, but detail differences in things like compound if you get the pads from MB.

STAY AWAY FROM PARTS.COM! I had my first horrible experiences in years from buying car parts online. They are rude, unprofessional and you basically have to to their job if something goes wrong. Keep in mind there is no phone # to contact them, only an online chat.

I ordered rotors from them, they send me an invoice and right after told me that the parts and prices have changed and if I agreed to that. So here is the funny thing, they were not able to give me the new part number or either the new prices, what ? LOL. Then they told me to contact myself the retailer to have info and new invoice, really? isn't that supposed to be parts.com job to give me pricing and invoice?? Of course the retailer was not listed on my invoice, so I had to ask them the info.
Then after 1 hour wasted in that mess I finally got hold of the retailer, whom basically didn't know what was going on. Transferred me to the manager, which of course went to the voice mail and never heard from them again.
Anyway, it went on and on, wtf? I had to cancel my credit card and file a complain to my credit card company!

once again, STAY AWAY from PARTS.com. You don't need them to rip you off and ask you to do their job, trust me !
