Blower making odd noise?

Hey Guys,

Watch the video below, towards the end you can really hear what I am referring to. I am not sure what it can be but it seems to be coming from the top part of the blower near the throttle bodies

Any ideas? The blower only has about 2-3K miles on it.

Thanks

Are you referring to that rhythmic background noise, not the high pitch squeaking ?

You really start hearing the noise I am referring to at around 5 seconds. It's not the high pitch squeaking noise it's the deeper knocking noise that really gets loud towards the end of the video.

Sounds like one of your idler pulleys. Either the ones that came with the kit or existing OEM ones.

Also does twin screw come oil filled? Did you check the level

Email our tech department and let us help you diagnose the issue. For starters you need to isolate the sound. Removing the belt and hand spinning all pulleys is the best way to do this.

Are you sure it is not just a belt or pulley? That is what it sounded like to me. If you have trouble isolating/pin pointing the source of the sound with with the belt removed as Weistec instructed have someone help you spin it while you listen through a stethoscope. You can pick up a cheap one for like $19.99 at a home healtcare supply store or some wal-marts and CVS's even have them. My diesel mechanics have one in their tool boxes, they come in handy every once in a while.....and if you ever take a girl home from the bar that wants to play Doctor, you're all set

Was about the say the same thing. Remove belt and turn by hand. E55 guys are use to this since our SC bearing and idler pullies would die out fast with all the larger pullies used.

Sounds like something is loose and as it spins around it's got play in It creating the noise.

Pop the belt off blower and spin it like others have said. Doesn't sound good whatever it is.

I am on it

I of course was in contact with you guys but you guys got busy with Jim's cars which I can obviously understand. Congrats on the new record! Simply jaw dropping

It's unfortunate you guys didn't have any time to come see me, especially since you were in town. I would have loved to come watch you guys break the world record, I am sure it was much better in person. Congrats again!

You should have come by my shop, you're always welcome there, after all the Weistec guys came 2000 miles, you could have come 25 miles, right?. I am sure they would have taken a look at your car if you came by. They were doing customer tunes and stuff trying to accommodate everyone even though they were on a tight schedule, my cars were not the only ones they worked on. Hope you can diagnose the noise and it ends up being nothing major. These blowers have proven very reliable and strong, I doubt it's a blower related issue.

It sounds like a belt/pulley issue. Please let us know what it turns out to be. Thank You

Blown63,

I had a strange whine with my stage 3 supercharger a while back when accelerating. I even recorded a video of it. It turned out that I had to replace my stage 3 pulley and serpentine belt, there was nothing wrong with the supercharger at all and the car now is working perfect. Check out the video, are you having the same sound that I had?:

They flew 2000 miles to kick the world records *** but that's great they accommodated new customers and still managed to break records!

Thank you for the invite though Jim, I appreciated, hopefully we can get together soon, good luck this weekend at Optima.

That doesn't sound like the noise mine is making, I will keep you posted with what comes from it. Thanks for the help.
