Looking for the best PERFORMANCE sedan $80K US will buy....
Okay guys here's the deal...I am buying a first year model 1990 ZR1 Corvette, 2nd owner, low miles 1st owner was Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. A friend has it and is unloading some of his cars.
As a favor I told him I'd help find the best performance sedan for the money at $80K price range. You guys are a great source of info and I think you enjoy the chase as much as I do. Any suggestions, comments, "no-way cars"...Let her rip!

$80k might get you a C63 with a blower! Stay away from the V10 M5. Lots of things to break on that car. What is the priority? Purely speed? Manual transmission a must? Daily drive? Any track time planned?

He wants a mid-size sedan with *****. Daily driven, I doubt it will see the track but he enjoys driving fast! SO performance is a must. Auto or manual shift.

For me, a performance sedans get softer, looser, and wallowier as they get bigger. I think it's because the expected luxury leaves less room for no compromise performance.
The best $80k performance sedan is probably a new c63 sedan w/ 507 and lots of goodies.
But if you want luxurious performance you'll want an e63 or cls63.
But for me, the c63 is really the only Mercedes option for performance. Maybe an e63s, but you're 30k over budget, and its not going to drive like a c63.

Jag F-Type V8
I'd go with a pretty optioned-up 2012 cpo E63 all day long for that price. Cooled seats, softer ride (living in Florida, I want cooled seats sooooooo bad right now in the summer).
Could probably get a slightly used Panamara, but it will be the small engine.
And then there was the Jag XF R-S, but it has not been updated in a while and likely will see a redesign pretty soon. Here is one in the right color too: JAGGGGGGG

I'd also recommend a CTS-V.
It's a pretty big and comfortable cruiser with plenty of bite.

I think I would go for a C63 507 sedan personally. Are those available at or under $80K? I am offering to let him drive my C63 a few days to see if that helps the decision process. The nicest sedan I have ever seen (not driven) is a Aston Martin Rapide but I know they are over $100K for a 2011 model.

Other cars commonly compared to the C63, but not yet mentioned are the RS4 and IS F. Not sure on the price on either. I would still go with the 507.
