Esp on or off? If it's on it's the esp cutting power to engine to control spinning or sliding. It could feel like a momentary loss of gas to engine or power to the pedal...

he said traction off.
My guess, you go from spinning the tires (which will result in the rpms rising faster than if you had traction) to gaining that traction (so the rpms drop back down because of the traction)...
That or you are overrevving the **** out of it.

no way is ESP off 100% ...when ESP is OFF 100% the tires will just do a massive burnout or you'll hookup..no power will be cut, you probably have/had it in "ESP-SPORT" ..if it's cutting power with "ESP-OFF" then you should go get it checked because ESP OFF won't cut power..I have my RPM set to 7400 too and it doesn't ever cut power.

I think it is just that split second result when your car finally finds traction.
No warning lights, car drives fine, wouldn't worry about it.

Yes, I think that is normal, at least that's what my car also does even with ESP off. The best I can find is that traction control is never completely off unless you put your car into Dyno Mode.

the cars are screwed up then or something, mine never cuts power at all with ESP-OFF...only esp-sport, it shouldn't cut power with ESP-OFF at all..how can you do a burnout with ESP-OFF if the power is being cut? You can't ..EC isn't the cause but if you have any mods like straight pipes..they do need to disable the O2 Sensors

I had the same issue. I pressed the ESP off button once, and burnout fail, but it launched like a rocket. I pressed the ESP button for a few seconds, and that was the trick.

That's not OFF, that is Sport
"pressed the ESP button for a few seconds"
Yes, that is OFF.
You should see an indicator in the gauge cluster.

when you say "it spins" do you mean the tires or the rpms?
I have a problem only in S when flooring it from a standstill. I bounce of the rev limiter from 1st to 2nd. I am debating to get it fixed because I wonder if I have a tune from the previous owner and don't want it erased.
Is this your problem?
Others - what should I do? I'm still under MB extended warrantee from a CPO with a 2009.

Traction control is never fully off in a Mercedes. The reason why your car cuts power, is because your spinning to much and the computer thinks, your going to lose control. Thus, interfering with you fun and applying the rear brakes and cutting engine power. If you want complete traction control off with no interference. You need to be in dyno mode. Also, stickier tires might do the trick to help you hook up. Stock tires on these cars are terrible! You might as well blow on an oil rig fire. With that stock tire set-up. Look into some toyo r888's. Also, take into account that others might have an LSD. Which is a night and day difference when driving this and launch it off the line.

If this doesn't happen in auto, then you hit the rev limiter, which is normal behavior. After owning for 6 years I still hit the rev limiter and feel stupid.
Try reproducing it in auto.

Oh rly?
50cent disagrees and so does everyone else (including me) who's laid a 100 foot+ burnout ...there is ZERO power cut with ESP-OFF..NONE what so ever, impossible..if there was how are there countless people who can bust donuts and burnouts until the tires melt?

If you want everything off (all the helper systems) that is what the Dyno mode is for.
Maybe this is what you meant.
