M3 over the M4 in a heart beat. The M4 looks very similar to an M Sport 435. The M3 in the flesh has very wide hips

Aesthetics aside, I am sure the new M cars will be a great handling powerful all around vehicles. I can appreciate it for what it is. It caters to some and not others as does everything else.

Im sure we will start to hear more official releases of what kind of power these cars can make in the aftermarket world soon.

The car sounds like a wimp though

I don't mean to bring back the debate but...

Honestly the power difference between the two M3s is almost too big to be true.

Seems like an animal!
Only a matter of time before we AMG owners start meeting up with them on the highway... eh eh eehhmmm track.
Styling is unreal as well, C63 has work cut out for them imho.

here's some 2008 C63 independent 3rd party testing
http://rototest-research.eu/popup/pe...p?ChartsID=795

wheels
HP 401 losses 11%
T 385 losses 13%
these are actual measured losses, not estimates

if you go to the 'download' tab you can get the ISO certified test results in different forms/units
also note on the certificate the tests is done ISO1585 STEADY STATE (vs. ramp runs which are BS)
in this mode they do 12 different points and stop at each point and record each for 5 seconds after it stabilizes, a ramp test is one 8 sec continuous sweep
also gives all detailed data: temp, humid, atm P, mileage on the car, weight, etc.
of particular interest is wheel torque, intake air, etc.
this is the only dyno testing I would lend any weight to
next time ask the operator to give you CERTIFIED results (ISO, DIN, SAE, ASME, ANSI, etc.) see what he says

This here is what I call a "revelation"! I was always counting on the rumors of 15%-18% loss.

C63 AMG
wheel torque
3000 rpm 352 lb ft
2500 336
2000 324
Power is linear and T = P/w (w = 2 Pi n, n= rev/sec)
not hard to make an estimate of torque below 2000
1500 310-315 range
1000 300 - 305 range
300 lb ft OFF IDLE!!!!
torque monster

M3 "better" track car?

Anyone foolish enough to track a M car without major cooling system modifications can look forward to engine failure due to overheating. Just because road and track does one lap faster in an 2012 M3 than the C63, the world anointed it as the better track car. You can push the C63 way harder than you think on the first go around, how would someone taking one lap in the car know that?

Ok, so BMW has thrown down the gauntlet. AMG loves to let them go first for a reason = "I'll see your M4 and raise you a car that goes faster and actually sounds good without the radio on...."

Sorry, it never gets old.
