MBH Headers and Mid Section Installation
I just recently purchased MBH headers and mid sections and can't wait to put them on.
I had asked about 6-12 mechanics with good reviews quote me between $1500-$3350 dollars on installation.
These are decent to good mechanics, I live in New York. Are these installation prices too high or are they average?
Thank you guys.

depending on what kind of labor they charge per hour. Id say anything over 2k$ you're getting hosed. Im sure some will tell you 1500$ is too much, but expect atleast 1k$ from someone who knows what they are doing. They really aren't as bad as they look though, and mb studs are pretty good about not seizing or stripping out.

I dont know what the labor rate is there, but 63 headers should at the absolute max take 8 hours. I can do them in 4-6 hours. Let me try and dig up some NY contacts for you. I'm just checking my email now and see that you emailed me.

Headers and tune you can make up to 120whp. No supercharger needed. A stock C63 in our dyno testing makes 355 to 375 stock at the rear wheels. After headers and tune our dynos show C63's making 475 wheel horsepower. 120whp gains are not uncommon.

It's not very difficult, If the tuner you decide to use has some experience with our headers than these gains are pretty achievable with our headers and a tune. Remember it will depend on where your baseline power is at. But most of these cars with our headers and a tune make right around 475whp.
An E63 with the M156 engine will make less over all power gains over stock, because it makes more power from the factory than your standard C63. The end result though will still be a car making about 475whp, It's just that they wont see that 120whp pick up. Simply because their baseline power numbers are higher.
On the C63 you get the benefit removing the factory power limitations (de-tuning), the benefit of a performance tune and the benefit from our long tube headers. Thats really how the standard C63 picks up so much power once you put some god mods on it.
If you thought your C63 was fast in its stock form, wait until you feel the power of just adding long tube headers and a tune.

I did the install myself, not that hard took about the 8 hours suggested but it was my first install and without a lift. I don't believe in dyno's but do believe in time slips which don't lie. My bone stock 2013 P31 coupe went 11.9 at 118mph and with MBH headers, OE tune, and ROW boxes with K&N filters went 11.3 at 125mph. Both runs in similar conditions (fall at Atco, NJ) and at 4100+ lbs race weight.

I installed MBH headers over the winter from the garage floor and I did take a little longer but was in no rush. Closer to 16 hours for me with lots of blue air thrown in for good measure. The sound is insane and I have 200 cell cats installed. I have trouble keeping my foot out of it now. Get them installed, from my experience you are going to love it.

They got me through local inspection. MVI is annual here. There is no sniffer or OBDII scan here so visual inspection only (NB Canada). Not sure how they would fair in other localities as there seems to be a wide variation in requirements as you move around the country (Canada or USA) or even within a state. I got the cats to at least maintain a hint of compliance and to tone down the sound a little. The techs doing the inspection here had no problem passing the car for a quality product and a job they saw as being done right.

You'll have to tell the company what modifications you'll have for the tune. I know eurocharged has plenty of maps and tune + headers is one of the most common maps they'd have.

I have EC with my headers. Not sure what is best though. If you want to get Mike try email or call him on the phone. Availability is not always his strong suit.

I would email him.
I've been emailing him about my headers. He replies sometimes but it's because he's recovering from an injury or surgery from what I heard.

The recovery has been nothing short of painful. They placed a stent running from my kidney to my bladder to control the swelling. I had that in for a little over 2 weeks. Sleeping with the stent was next to impossible. If I moved it more than 1 min at a time (walking around the house, driving) It was causing internal bleeding and really bad pain. Vicodin, Tramadol, Advil, Naproxen had no effect on the pain. So I was left to kind of rough it out.
As of Thursday evening I went to the Urologist to have my stent removed. By far the most painful thing I've ever been though. However about 2 hours after I felt amazing. I woke up Friday after a full nights sleep feeling awesome. I told my lady we are getting out of town for the holiday weekend and I've been feeling fantastic ever sense. So i've been in Northern AZ just relaxing all weekend. I'm home know and cant wait to get back in the swing of things.
If you guys got any questions shoot me an email (mike@mbhmotorsports.com) I'll be going through them tonight and tomorrow.
