2009 Performance Pack Suspension

Hi, I have a 2009 C63 with PP. Love the car, however I find that the suspension is just WAY to hard for everyday road use. I know they discontinued the suspension setup 2010+ onward.

The car bounces and hops everywhere when driven hard.

Has anyone changed their suspension setup because of this problem.

Thanks.

hi i have a 2009 C63 sedan all factory standard . In queensland australia the roads are crap i have same problem as you i have done some research on tyres continenal extreme contact DW seem to have a softer sidewall & a better ride willing to loose some roadholding for a softer ride. open to suspension mods also love the car thanks.

I believe some P30 owners have installed H&R springs or H&R or KW V3 coilovers (or other makers) to both lower the car and make the ride more compliant.

the suspension and awful ride was one of the primary reasons i got rid of mine...its easy to see why they discontinued that setup..

My wife doesn't seem thrilled with it either, but I do find my eyes wandering to the passenger seat when we hit a bumpy section of road.

I changed from P30 to H&R coilovers. For street they are great, a huge improvement over P30 in comfort and yes, handling. That said, if I did it over today with what I know I'd give KW V3's a much closer look.

Would I get away with simply changing the shocks?

I love the p30 suspension! You and your passengers know you're in something a bit special... My wife and kids like it too... Perhaps it's just that the roads are better in the south?

the shocks are what make it ride that way. I have a set of front and rears off of my 2010 non pp car with about 13k miles on them if you are interested. It's funny to me how people get to upset with harsh ride when they have "performance package" the cla45 is the same way. It's a problem people have with checking all the boxes when ordering the car and choosing things they really dont need. If you dont use the car on the track, pp is not a good idea.

Personally, I do not mind the rough rides from these types of suspensions. Mine being an '11 is beyond that but would not mind having that P30 suspension, here's the P31 package being announced and what it has.
http://www.benzblogger.com/2009/11/2...laces-p30.html

and here's the actual announcement of it via the MB memo.

And you are the self-annointerd arbiter of what? What I need? "We" are the other of your 99% of C63 owners who can't hope to ascend to the lofty heights of cardom nirvana you apparently achieve every time you turn the key over? Excuse me while I head to the vomitorium. GMAFB. Who the **** are you? Your constant and presumptuous know-it-all bleating gets oh so tiresome.

P31 cars are just as bad I believe, mine rides horribly. If there's a cheap solution I very well may just change the suspensions for something more compliant.

P31 does not include any suspension modifications. You're responding to the stock C63 suspension. Is this your first AMG? It's really no stiffer than any other performance suspension.

Oh hell yeah it is . Apparently we in Canada have stiffer suspension in our Performance Package:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...sa-canada.html

"Canada gets.....

251 Top Speed Raised to 280 km/h
471 Limited-Slip Rear Differential
475 Tire Pressure Monitoring System
923 Additional Horsepower 30 additional hp - 481hp total (SLS forged rods, pistons and crankshaft)
H73 AMG Carbon Fibre Trim AFTER JANUARY 2012
P30 Performance Package Incl. STIFFER SUSPENSION & brake upgrades (2 Piece light weight front rotors), titanium grey engine cover
U47 AMG Trunk Lid Spoiler in Carbon Fibre
U70 Red Brake Calipers
Highlighted in red is what the US doesn't get..."

I really don't think that's accurate on post-facelift cars, even Canadian APX models. It's certainly not the case for US P31.

The reason I doubt any 2012 or later would have a different suspension is that facelift base C63's got a modified suspension with stiffer bushings. And the factory was very clear that the P30 mods were being deleted. I really can't see them reintroducing them in an updated suspension. And certainly not for Canada alone.

I guess I struck a nerve. Are you a box checker? Am I becoming the new Ingenuir? I cant help when people buy race car stuff and get mad it makes their car more like a race car in ways they dont desire? It's kind of like buying a black series because of how it looks, but hating how it drives lol. I dont claim to be some billy badass end all. I happen to have alot of knowledge and resources onn these cars and figure i'd help sometimes. I can just just stop posting and let the keyboard warriors spread bad information and false assumptions.
