Here is a video of the cutting process

Looks way better. No?

Took me about 3-4 hours with the dremel tool to cut the rod, also burned my hand on it because the rod was so hot from all the cutting, but in the end its worth it.

Ummm did you literally grind your way through it?
You know they do make cutoff blades for the dremel....

I don't know that I would have cut it off either mr747.
But I do love the CF trim wrap! I know some aren't fans but I for one love the dry CF look.

The blades broke while I was working on other projects...

Thanks for commenting about the wrap!

This and that.
I like the way the knob looks but I would have never had the ***** to do it myself!

I like the interior cf wrap. If you don't mind me asking who did you go to and how much did you pay? If it was in Calgary that is. I would be interested in getting mine done as well.

Thanks for completing the CF warp! I actually bought the wrap on Amazon and did it myself after watching couple YouTube videos. It was easy but time consuming and the shops in Calgary wanted $400-500 to do the wrap...

It looks awesome, I wish I was more DIY type of person. Would love to do it on my car but yea 400-500 sounds way too much.

It's a reputable tuning shop but they do mechanical and custom work for VIP customers too. I know the owner and staff pretty well.

Sounds good. Also, if you feel up for helping me on the wrapping DIY it would be awesome. I could order whatever parts I'll need. I can of course compensate you for your troubles if you're up for it.

I would love to but I'm a pretty clumsy guy for example I broke a couple tabs when I was taking the trims out. I would feel bad if I messed up your precious car. Let the professional do it

Wow, i love this.

I have always wanted to change the gear knob to this one.

Cutting the metal stalk wouldnt bother me.

Can you please post some more proper side shots?

How much did you cut off [exactly]?

How did you secure the new knob on?

Where did you get the shift boot with red stitch?

Thanks

Here is how much you have to cut off. The little gap will secure the knob in place (although I put masking tape on top of the rod that made it more tight and snug)

I will get a proper side shot later due to the demand

I had someone online stitched the boot in red for me

This is some serious surgery :O

You need a custom leather boot now - this one is too long.
