there are non-cf aftermarket ones available as well.

I'll snap pics and post tomm.

If you like paypal me the amount which I will ask them and shipping and I'll send it over to ya.

The stuff is bullet proof.
That was was my whole intent - re paint it myself. I either wanted to use OEM paint (if they made it) or use the paint code as a cross reference for another manufacturer. The brand that you used has a "bumper coater" product but in 17 colors - just trying to get it close to the orginal color. You used the Trim Black correct? Did you use a Primer? If you could send a pic that would be helpful. But if you say it is a good match then I will go that route but they say the "bumper coater" has better adhesion.
Thank you for the reply Brother!

You can't re-paint it because it was never painted in the first place. It is solid black plastic. You want to paint it. As you mentioned you might need a primer. I think your going to get better results taking it off to paint it rather than taping/spraying around everything. Since it isn't going to be stock I would go with a gloss black, but I have other gloss black trim . If your diffuser is shot the only thing you stand to loose it the time/labor and the cost of paint.

That said there is no way I'd do this to my car. I'd take it as a sign to buy a CF diffuser. If money was tight I'd get the stock one off of the many folks who've bought a CF diffuser and have the stock one laying around. I bet there is one in Houston right now sitting in someones garage.

Good luck whatever you do. Be sure to post some pics.

Would love to see how this turns out. I am going with the gloss black spoiler, mirrors etc. and would love to have the diffuser match. I am shocked MB lets the 507s go out like that.

I took off the Rear Diffuser today and painted it - I think it turned out very very good. I will post some pictures up once I install it back on the car - fully cures in 48hrs.

I said that I would post up some pics - they are crappy cell phone pics but hopefully you can tell the difference.

My Procedure:
1) Cleaned with Simple Green
2) Washed with soap and water and Scotch Brite pad
3) Wet sanded with 600
4) Sprayed SEM 39863 Plastic Adhesion Promoter
5) Several coats of SEM 39143 Trim Black
6) Let it cure for 48hrs and re-installed

Hopefully the pics get attached.

Nice job. Now you have an oem diffuser painted in trim black. was this the original plan? I thought you were trying to get it back to oem look, with oem "diffuser paint code"...?
I mean it looks nice, but that's not what you were going for right, or was it...?
Regardless it looks nice. Good job.

Looks great. More of a black than stock right?

Autosport7 - I really wanted to go OEM but the process was more involved than I wanted to tackle. I figured if I came out like crap then I would get it done correctly.

roccoam77 - it could be a tad "black-er" but after looking at a number of cars and an MB body shop saying that they use paint code 040 for re-spraying I think it is pretty darn close.

Ingenieur - thanks. I just got your screen name - me too just a dumb one.

Is this because it would have required molding a new plastic diffuser? You know, because OEM is unpainted plastic.

Looks good though

I was looking for a DIY solution - I was thinking that someone made an a spray paint for just this part but I could not find one (that was the whole intent of this thread). I guess that I could have gotten 040 paint code and then a matte clear coat spray can but I would probably have screwed that process up for sure.

imo looks good, actully looks like it has a bit of texture
after some time/fade it will look oem
no one will tell the difference unless side by side, and even then it will be tough
