Most common mods?

Is there a thread anywhere that has a list of the most common modifications? Maybe any freebies like removing the charcoal filters? Are there any other simple DIY freebies like this? I'm new to the AMG family but not to MB or cars in general. Thanks!

Only freebies are charcoals and weight reduction.

Then tune, headers, some people do row air boxes, weight reductions (lighter rotors, hood, trunk, etc) and after that you're looking at a supercharger. Also suspension (springs or coilovers)

Cosmetically people do trunk spoilers, lips, CF bits here and there. If you have cash then a nice set of wheels to compliment your coilovers/springs. Lastly tints.

Happy modding

There's a post on here with data that supports a 20+ hp gain just from the row airboxs. That's a great gain for little $$$.

There's another post somewhere on how to mod the restricted US airboxs to work like row's.

I'd start with that, I'm going to....

LSD - it is a game changer on traction. I am very happy with my tune, wheels, tyres but the Wavetrac LSD is the best money I have spent.

It unrestricts airflow, so yes.

This and that.
Why are the charcoal filters there in the first place if it is bad for the car? I have mine in too never bothered taking them out. How do you do it? I believe there was a video floating around somewhere. I was contemplating taking mine out and then decided not to after someone said it's not good for the car to take it out.

They aren't "bad" for the car. They help with emissions controls in the states. They are just a little bit restrictive so if you're looking for that extra 2-5whp then you can find it there.

Simple to remove. Just open up your air boxes and they are in there under the filters. They look like a furnace filter or whatever

Here is a video showing how to remove the charcoal filters. Looks pretty easy.

Heres another link showing how to DIY ROW airboxs.
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...r-box-mod.html

And another link showing the gains of the ROW airbox. These boxes were not DIY'ers.
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...dyno-test.html

So, with a little time and no cost if you DIY the boxes you should achieve a 5% hp increase.
Dollar for horsepower, this cannot be bested.

I just added AFE Air filters and took out the charcoal filters while I was at it. Not to mention my car is already tinted, and tuned at Eurocharged.

I have already removed the charcoal filters with noticeable sound improvements, I guess the ROW box is on my weekend list.

Snow I recall you saying that you noticed a sound difference after removing the charcoal although no one else on here would corroborate that. I was going to remove mine but then I heard that it potentially caused error codes? If none of those concerns exist anymore and they give a noticeable change to the sound as well as the power increase, I am happy to do it.

Also, is there only one charcoal filter on that side or do you have to remove two cause those two sides look similar?

There should be a charcoal filter on each side.

There is no error codes because of removing charcoal filters, also get the Afe drop in filters at the same time, car will sound a little better, although i don't remember too much about sound change because i since did resonator delete and sec cat delete plus x-pipe, lol still no error codes 😃

I have removed the charcoal and changed air filter to KN with no codes so far. Also the point of ROW box is to remove charcoal and cut a huger opening in the air box.

Here is a video of my car stock air filter with only charcoal removal

So after removing the charcoal you just put the air filter back in and close it normally then?

This

Not common perhaps but a great everyday usable mod
It's like finding HP that you could not previously access
