Mort, when I looked at the TB yesterday, it looks about 6~8mm larger just by visual inspection, didn't get to measure the two. Looking around I knew about kleemann and renntech, just have to call them and go from there.

I appreciate man but I already bought the replacement TB to keep the current setup. I could go back to the OEM ones but I think that would create bigger problems, mainly with the tune. Also I would lose considerable power on the car. I rather find out what I have to better diagnose what I want to do from there.

Man this is getting annoying

So I finally get the car back on Wednesday. Excited to drive off, car sounds good. Not even two miles down the road, the CEL comes back on again . I call the SA and it was right before 7pm, before they close so he mentioned to bring it in the following day first thing or as soon as I can. I wasn't able to until yesterday.

Took it in and now this CEL is about the fuel evap system . Since I dropped the car off somewhat late yesterday, they had to keep it overnight since this test requires the engine to be cool. This is getting really annoying and so far, the dealer probably has had the car more time than what I've had it.

Depending how this goes today, I'm going to have a few choice words since this happened minutes after leaving the dealer. We'll see. Sorry to vent, just gets frustrated not being able to enjoy the car.

Reminds me of an issue I had with Carlsson supercharged SLK AMG a few years back. The Carlsson guys are awesome - but the car had gremlins that materialized every couple hundred miles. They had to come get it, drive it 200 miles to the shop and troubleshoot the heck out of it. Took a month overall - finally it was found as a hair crack in an electronics card that was probably introduced by manipulating it during the build.

Just to make you feel a bit better. If it comes on after 2 miles, it is easier to find than if it comes on every 100 miles. If there is a code, that is better than if there is not, etc.....

:-)

Good luck!!

I just hope that this doesn't turn into something like that. Would really suck to have my introduction to MB like that.

Could be as easy as a gas cap.

PurpleHeartAMG is correct with the gas cap comment. Also do not overfill the tank, when the nozzle kicks off do not add anymore gas. Should have went to Autozone or similar place and deleted the CEL after securing the gas cap. My car threw one cel shortly after buying it for some reason it did not like have the words on the gas cap upside down, ha ha crazy but never came back when the words are upright.. Go figure!

So I got the call from the dealer. Turned out to be the valve that regulates fuel flow. It is stuck in the open position and will not close. They will keep the car and should be ready Monday. This happened minutes after I left the dealer from having the throttle body issue fixed dde20.

i think they meant to say the purge valve. It doesnt regulate fuel flow.... it regulates how much fuel vaper is allowed into the intake system.

You're probably right, once they said it was something else I kinda stopped listening and thinking gotta pay more to fix something else. Kinda takes the fun out of it.

lol, ya sometimes these valves start sticking when they get hot. They are the annoying ticking sound thats not real loud but just loud enough to be annoying and make you think it might be the engine as they come and go.
