This is a mod no one will know on the road except u & ur right foot. (Unless u tell people u have a tuned car or race another C63).

My point is tune it for urself & ur own driving experience.. Don't worry too much about the consequences.. Just be prepare to deal with it if smth comes up. U gotta pay to play like they say.

..otherwise, enjoy ur stock car for peace of mind.
deep down ino u want that tune bro lol

Agreed, those of you not tuning this car are really missing out on what this thing is capable of IMHO.

You guys worry too much..I bought all 3 tunes, tuned my car so many times...I NEVER have issues, infact..I just blew up my 2nd intake manifold in under 2 years..do you hear me crying? **** no..it's a $4,000 part..I don't give a rats ***..it's a car..accept it's a piece of crap no matter how expensive it is and drive it like you stole it..all i see on this forum now is "my gas cap is broken help! "my tires are beyond bald should i replace them?" its kind of annoying lol..drive the damn machine into the ground like it was designed for humans to do..we drove society into the ground so it's already ****ed. I mean **** boys...it's a damn AMG..don't buy one if your pocket book can't handle it..it's that simple..it's like everyone with buying a house "OMG I have $10,000 saved! I should go put $7,000 down on a house and not worry about the cost of living!"

Avery, I hope ur post is a joke?

U spent 4000$ x 2 within 2 years from a result of u beating on ur car? Nothing to be proud of & not the smartest move.

I for myself would never justify this kind of spending in the context I have a kid to raise. So yes, this post from Zephyr about worrying on the consequences of a tune is still justifiable for some.

Roswell, it's obvious you are level headed and have a mature mind set. Not saying that I know Avery, BerBer, or Mr. Boss man, etc, but in actually not about being cheap or not wanting to destroy my engine over time, because after all that's awesome and cool! It's about taking pride and care of the things I own and enjoying the car over the term of ownership.

There is no prize for who beats on their car the most or who is a bigger dare devil or who runs their C63 into the ground with the most expensive mods first. It's the mind set of a stupid mentality that only get laughed at by others at the expense of the idiot who treats their car like its a match box toy. I know its only a car genius, I just want to enjoy it the best I can and not flush money down the toilet. Hope that's cool enough for you...

I have been reading everyones opinions and continuing my research. From what I have understood is if you intend to tune, tune via the ECU not the OBD port. It's the "cleanest" and most effective way to write software on the ECU. That's the way Renntech does it as well as Weistec, not like the others who advertise handheld devices.

If he has a tune that's not a want, that's a need.

That may be true, but for most of us (location dependent) it's more than a little lacking in terms of ease and feasibility. If you feel like you will never want or need to flash it back, that may be the way to go. If you suspect that whatever reason you want to remove it on a temporary basis that is extremely inconvenient.

And its expensive, although admittedly only when compared to the other method. In terms of bang for your buck it is still far and away the best value, even at those prices.

Not sure about #1 or #3, but I know #2 is true. One of my coworkers was curious how fast his son was driving his C350 on the autobahn. Not sure how much detail it gave or or how long, but the service guy did say the car had reached into the 140's. Since my co-worker never drives that fast, he knew the son had been.

With that being said, if they look into that on my car, they'll know I've had a tune on it because I've been past the factory limiter. Like I said, it could've been a very shallow dig just to find the top speed hit. I'm sure none of you guys drive yours over 80 unless on a track right?

As I understand it, when we argue that information is Fact because experts said so, we engage in the the classical logical fallacy of argumentum ab auctoritate. It just means argument from authority, but it sounds cooler in latin. It is a fallacy because authority and expertise in a field does not imply infallibility.

On the other hand, i do not know if repeated reflashing leaves a trace or causes the chip to deteriorate. The trace issue would only be important to folk who's cars are still in warranty, right?
