Hard shift in "M" mode 3rd to 4th gear - Normal?
I just bought my 09 C63 back in May with roughly over 50K miles on it and for the most part there doesn't seem to be any issues as of now. Which is great because I'm enjoying the car to the fullest!
What I did notice is and only when I'm driving in manual mode, that sometimes it seems like 3rd gear and shifting into 4th and even sometimes going into 5th. It has a little bit of a jerk. Best way I can describe is that it feels like a harder shift than any of the other gears. Not sure if this is normal or possibly theres a software update needed to be done or even the changing of the trans fluid. Just not as smooth of a shift as it is in the other gears. Wanted some input from some long time experienced drivers. Its going in for service in like 2k miles, but I plan on taking to an Indie shop for the oil change etc etc. Not paying $600 for the dealer to check and top off fluids and change my oil lol. Anyways Much appreciated for the insight.

Yes a hard shift is completely normal. The M mode shifts are twice as fast (100ms) vs comfort mode shifts and to accomplish this the car actually suppresses fuel intake for a split second during the shift which is the kick that you feel (the fuel intake going down then back up). Now if you are experiencing hard shifts in Comfort mode that's another story, but in M mode...totally normal.

Both the TC and wet clutch variants?
Any idea where I can read some technical info on the tranny?
The more you know HOW it works the better you can UTILIZE it
Things like fuel conservation algorithms in C mode?
Shift speed in S?
Etc
Time to google lol

Ohh man LOL! ^ but make a good point about learning more about the trans. I def enjoy "M" mode thee most. Its raw like driving a stick which is what I came from after 6yrs 👌

the 09 has a torque convertor
Mine is a 2009 and the hard shifts are 1-2, 2-3, after that they get smoother
Makes sense since the difference of torque being delivered between gears is less as ratios get closer and lower

Thanks
Very cool videos
This is my first auto in over 30 years and going on 1 mil miles
Very impressed with it
It was my only reservation about the car
The fact that MB makes it is cool, many mfgs buy them from ZF, Getrag, etc

My 2010 tranny is very composed and smooth. My car did have some jerky shifting from 3-4 only when my valve body went bad. Any other symptions? Any noticeable tranny slipping?

hmm not that I can notice at least. Its only when Im on the gas in "M" mode that it does it. Other than that there is no hard shifts or any noticeable slipping. How did you find out the valve body was going bad? Took it in for service?

Yes they did a diagnosis on my tranny. If you dont have slipping should be fine.
