507 cam specs vs standard 09 c63

Is it true 507 c63s run a different cam spec compared to the first c63's produced (08/09 models)?

Thanks

It's the same engine in every c63.

They can vary the cams via the ECU to change the specs.

Interesting. My tech said from 2010 part numbers changed. So I assumed cams changed too. I could be wrong hence why I started this thread. Thank you for the info though

I can't answer you question about cam specs but regarding part numbers, I often see them change while the actual component does not. At least the change is not percieved to our eyes.
Sometimes a PN change just means its coming from a different supplier.

Ya could be a material change, remember that law suit with the cams?

Only big thing that I noticed changed were the valve covers went from grey metal to black plastic. Oddly.

like Vitec?

Cool! That'd mean you can change intake and exhaust Lobe centres at different rpm points. Know any tuners that can access and rephaze those?

I think only a couple top tuners can vary the cams.

Vtec can increase lift too. These don't, they can retard and advance each cam 20 degrees or so. Since its a dual cam head, the ECU can change the intake and exhaust relation as well.

I think the factory already has many many hours into the cams and has them running peak.

The cam variation is why the car idles perfectly but screams to redline with a nice broad torque curve.

Yes... I don't remember exactly, but didn't some years have a "softer" cam that would wear out and there was a new part that went in that was harder and lasted longer? The year might have been 2011 or 2012 where the part was updated. So 2008 and 2009 certainly suffered from this problem.

They all have soft cams and soft cam adjusters. Hard tappeta wear out the cams and the hard key wears out the adjusters. Such a **** design along with the magnesium intake manifold.
