Data cable too short - remedies?

Data cable too short - remedies?
The OEM MBZ cable for use with my iPhone 5 is so short I have to basically leave the phone in the center console. I have not located an Apple extension cable that is female on one end and male on the other. What workaround have you fine folks figured out?

I don't have the center console connection, but are you in need of a usb to lightning cable? If so, I've seen ones up to 3 meters at the Apple Store.

No. I need a female lightning on one end (to connect to the too-short MBZ cable) and a male lightning on the other (to connect to my iPhone).

I see. Well, maybe you can somehow remove the too short one and replace it completely with a longer one? Depends on how the too short one connects to the interface, of course. If it's just a short cable plugged into it, then maybe this will work. Or search for a female to female adapter that you can plug another cable into. Or try a wireless Bluetooth adapter of some sort (but then you won't have charging capabilities).

Sometimes these aftermarket things don't work. All of my aftermarket cables that I used to use with my 5 stopped working with the 5s and also the 6. Fyi.

Believe me I know. I've run through the Chinese stuff in mass quantity and it all breaks within 2 weeks, if it goes that long.
