Went to Dyno today

I will post up the pic of the run and video later.
But car did 288KW / 386HP

Did 3 runs and by the 3rd run the power was dropping.

Dyno Dynamics Dyno.
34Deg C/ 93F in dyno room (it was 40deg C / 104F outside today.

About 20Metres above sea level (dunno if that relevant but I have seen other ask)

Car has OE Tune, K&N filters, 2nd cat delete. 19" rims running 255s.

I have to say I am a little disappointed. I was hoping to crack 300KW but I guess it was quite a very hot day today and I do notice when it hot like these days, the car does run pretty crap.

Anyway, what's everyone's thoughts?

Are you stock? If yes these results are on par.
As for the elevation it matters for the amount of air you get at sea level vs in altitude. Therefore you would get lower numbers at high altitude. Same for temperature as high temp would affect your engine's performance.

Unless you did the run uncorrected, air temp and elevation don't matter. What was the correction? SAE?

If you drove your car there in 40c weather and threw it on the dyno, it would likely be heat soaked to hell, that will matter and show on the dyno. It was probably pulling timing and the engine and intake very hot.

Why do i feel very disappointed though? Its because i see other C63s and they are putting down much greater numbers. I have copied a few vids below as reference.

With regard to SAE & Correction, i dont know what either of those are, but they guy who was running the dyno said "correction" is set automatically.

I just feel its not very quick (driving it).
I mean, in my E63 (W211) stock they are 375kw. Put Eurocharged tune on, and it was night & day difference from stock. Car pulled HARD. Never got a chance to dyno it though.

Look, i know each dyno is different, and even the same dyno on a different day can produce different results etc.
But even AFTER tune, with VBOX doing 0-100 runs, cant even crack 4.5 seconds. Multiple runs, different launches, different tarmacs etc. Its disappointing.

Yes, i did drive the car there on a 40Deg day. Though the car sat for about 40 mins before we put it on the dyno. But it was a bloody hot day, even in the dyno room, it was very hot.
I think im going to flash back to stock, and dyno it to see the actual difference.

I just read up on SAE.
I am not sure if the dyno was calibrated that way.
I dont think it was, as the guy said if i had come here on a cold day, it would have produced higher numbers.
So that indicates to me, that it is not corrected with SAE

Hmm.
Well yeah, look at all the videos i post up and there is plenty more, they are ALL 300+
Even all the guys in the US that post up here have higher numbers.

Those ones in the videos are on a Mainline Dyno tho. So different dyno.

All good, i appreciate the assurance Brad. And everyone elses input. Thank you.
I will put a pic up of the printout tomorrow, but looks like yours pretty much.

I don't know how much it impacts the run but did you set the car to Dyno mode to disable all traction control?
I've not yet dyno'ed mine but I have to believe any traction control attempts by the cars ECU would impact the run.

don't you just have to turn esc off?
but it's a good point as it could impact the numbers

Turning off ESP does not completely disable Traction Control. The only way to completely disable it is to enable Dyno mode from the service menu.

When in Dyno mode ESP, Traction Control and ABS are completely disabled.

Here's how to do it.

When I do run mine I have it enabled to ensure no electronic nannies interfere without me knowing.

S550 on order
Blame nature

34C is quite hot, my car runs like a dog when its 35C+ I put down around 460whp on a 30C+ day then 486whp on a cold fall day. Maybe get a ice tank ..isn't Aus pretty hot all year round? I'm sure it'd help keep the engine cooler

also use dyno mode like they said above, the TC is still on 10-15% even when it's "off"

dont worry about the #'s ..theres guys in alberta who get walked on by 300whp evos so ive heard and i think theres 1 video of a tuned C63 getting walked on by a stage 1 evo lol..yet you go a province over to BC and your pulling lambos and ferraris no problem

If there was no correction your number will read whatever the car out down in reality and comparing to other cars is absolutely useless. Correction makes it possible to compare numbers across different cars.

Don't worry about dyno numbers.

Yes the car was in Dyno mode.
All good, i know Dynos should only be used as a tool to see gains / losses of mods done etc.

Just in general i was disappointed.
All good guys, thanks for everyones help and words.

My car had 412 whp with a EC V5 tune on the same kind of dyno, but with cooler temperatures. Dyno Dynamics dynometers read 10-15% lower than Dynojets, which are much more common in the US.
Your 386 hp on the Dyno Dynamics correspond to about 436 hp on a Dynojet (using a 13% adjustment factor).

Btw, adding long tube headers brought 447 whp (on Dyno Dynamics, estimated 505 whp on a Dynojet).

Yep don't worry!,, usa dyno' read much higher and there 1/4 mile times are always faster too , stock c63 in oz on a proper dyno make around 240 ish kW at the wheels , custom tunes on that same dyno around the mid to high 280 kW atw . So one would assume a 40 odd kW gain at the wheels is solid it's 52 hp putting you in good stead at the crank , ie 520 hp or there abouts . Every dyno is different every car is different numbers or only for stroking yourself . Main thing at the end of the day is your tune safe
