Resetting Transmission Adaptation
If so, for how long do i disconnect the battery?
And do i only disconnect the negative terminal?
Any info would be great.
I think the transmission has changed it's habit and isn't the way it used to be.
It used to backfire, crack and pop when gearing down from 3rd-2nd at approx 40km/h.
Now once it hits 2000rpm after gearing down from 3rd-2nd it just lets go of the gear, feels as though someone has put their foot on the clutch when in gear in a manual. Just lets go of the rev rather than winding down in second gear. This only occurs at 2000rpm.
Before it would hold the gear to 0rpm in second gear, with constant backfiring, popping and crackling.
But i also noticed the tranny had reset too, as the car felt totally different (in a good way)
So in saying that, i D/C the negative terminal for 8hrs.
Hope that helps
They advised against the software update, but said they are happy to do the transmission re-adaptation for me.
I asked why they advised against the software update and they said it can change the shifting patterns etc.
The reason I ask is if I put around in heavy traffic in Comfort or sport, I wonder if it will start getting lazy across the board or if I can "save" S+ for not being a slug.
So I still sit here and wonder where the internet folk get thier info from
Kinda different from the topic but I'm not referring to the battery disconnect....but rather the procedure where the throttle is held down for a few seconds to reset adaptations

I think tha car learns how much power in each gear to limit before the car breaks loose and the key method resets it.

All in all, bad advice from your shop.
The reason I ask is if I put around in heavy traffic in Comfort or sport, I wonder if it will start getting lazy across the board or if I can "save" S+ for not being a slug.
However, I do keep C for 95% of my driving and then when I click over to S, it stays 'fresh' for enthusiastic driving. I never use S+ for anything now...it never shifts and then it short-shifts when you don't want it to.

I wouldn't think it actually just learns for each mode but I was hoping someone would confirm it did. I tend to stay out of S+ most of the time hoping to keep it snappy and then never end up using it when I'd want to lol.
First, let's clarify that even without Vediamo, even with just the most entry level Xentry, without special permissions and without coding, you can reset the transmission adaptations.
But this is an involved process.
This has to do with the tramnission re-learning the shift points, through a teach-in process.
It's also a two man job. One operates the Xentry and one drives and I believe there's a stopwatch involved as well.
I want to learn how do do this and have the equipment to perform the adaptations. Furthermore, there is an instructional video from Mercedes that kinda point out how this is done.
So, if anyone in the Long Island area wants the shift points re done, we could do this.
Now, as far as Vediamo, I'm only starting with Vediamo and Monaco now, I'l like to discuss with someone familiar with them, just to get started with the basics, if anyone wants to share..
If not, I'll figure them out myself. They appear to be non-user-friendly, for factory use softwwares.
Sure you have access to anything, but at least in Monaco, some data seems like it's coming to me in machine-code. I mean, for a Mercedes engineer, yeah machine-code is no big deal, but for others?
no wonder they don't need to protect the access with that.
