I am curious how these will compete against the 3/435i's and other class competitors. With some tuning they should be decently fast!

C450 AMG is meant to be crazy. A very conservative 0-62mph of 4.9 official which probably means 4.4 ish reald world. Not far away from its big brother the c63.

I think the 450 will be a great car. However, I do not see why someone would buy a 450 over a c63. I feel like it should either been 400 or c63, not so much on the middle ground.

And it won't do 4.4 out of the box.

People buy s4/5 and m tuned/sport/whatever 3 series etc and v sport ... Why on earth won't people buy the c450 ?? People on this earth love options

Price, the main factor. In the UK, the non "S" base version of the c63 is £60k or $90k. The c450 is expected to be 33% cheaper at £40k.
Plus as we're hammered with expensive fuel costs, mpg is a real factor when buying a car. Every extra mpg counts. Hence the popularity of diesels in Europe generally.
Plus of course we can't even get the c400 or the c300. its c200 or c63 only so the the c450 will fill the gap nicely.

This is a great car for Benz to compete directly with the 335i sport vehicles... The c300/400 currently even with the sport package don't seem to outcompete the performance of the 335 and 435i....

It's a more "tame" AMG from what I read. The people who are terminally out of their minds go for the C63 lol

If we are taking into account conservative 0-60 times, the new W205 C63 S model's claimed 0-60 time is 3.9 seconds.

In magazine tests, I can easily see it ripping off 3.5-second 0-60 times. So the W205 will still be nearly a full second quicker to 60.

The W204 C63's claimed 0-60 time is 4.3 seconds.

Car and Driver has the W204 at 0-60 in 3.7 seconds (http://www.caranddriver.com/mercedes-benz/c63-amg).

Motor Trend has the W204 C63 at 3.8 seconds.

I couldn't resist. There was some guy on the w205 forum posting about buying an AMG badge to put on his c450. Talk about a red rag to a bull. You can imagine the responses LOL.

That's like being set up on a blind date with that girl with "a great personality" tame = slow and great personality = fat and ugly, hence nobody wants either. I woukd drive a base C250 before I drive a poser mobile C450 "AMG Sport"....hell I would walk before I drove one of those poser mobiles.

It's a pretty reliable system, it can spot a troll from a mile a while. Your troll light is yellow, full troll is orange and green means your cool so youre only a moderate troll but it's early things could go either way for you....just be cool and you should be ok.

Why is it a poser mobile? It's replacing the c400 so it is the normal c series with the 3 litre 6 cylinder engine. Mercedes, rightly or wrongly, are cashing in on their F1 domination and using the AMG brand to push cars onto new customers. BMW have been doing the same for ages with their 335i M Sport and their M235i neither of which are proper M cars.

If you even have to ask that question then it's not even worth me trying to answer.

Younare correct about Mercedes whoring out the AMG name, and it is a shame they did so. People pay a premium for real AMGs for their excusivity, for their engineering, for their hand built engines and exclusive AMG only developed powerplants. Simpky throwing a badge on a C400 and calling it an AMG is a sin.

Mercedes is going to shoot themself in the foot becuase once the AMG brand gets watered down and less desireable with garbage like the C450 people like me will not be buying them. Once the people with big money stop wanting them the entire AMG brand will lose its special appeal and people will no longer be willing to pay a premium for the fake ones.

You wont catch Ferarri throwing an extra 25hp tune and Ferarri badges on Fiat 500's just to sell a few more cars, and that is essentialy what Mercedes has done with their AMG brand.

.......enjoy your fake AMG. Keep your fingers crossed that you never pull up next to a real one at a stoplight, that will show you the difference between a real one and a fake one but you will have to learn the hard way.
