If you haven't owned and tracked a 911 GT3 from any year you cannot possibly understand what these cars are about. First of all the specialty cars including Cayman R, Boxster Spyder, any GT3 from 2004 to current do hold their value. I cannot think of any other cars you can put 15,000 track miles on and sell it for what you paid or more and have so much fun. The GT4 will be a great car also.
All the AMG cars are great, I love my E63s wagon, but serve a different purpose, even though I can't wait to drive the new GTS on a track!

I almost pulled the trigger on a 981 Cayman S before I bought the BS. The handling was sublime, exhaust note intoxicating, and I can only imagine what it's like in the GT4. The ride was also surprisingly compliant and refined, but I'm certain that the GT4 will be far more raw in nature.
To me, this GT4 addresses most of the issues on the S, mainly lack of power and exclusivity. It is going to be insanely expensive, but I think it's worth it given the amount of quality stuffed into this package. I think the notion of Porsches being overpriced definitely comes from the fact that their prices have risen drastically above avg. joe expectations, compounded by their MSRP that totally misrepresents their actual pricing.

Also a better daily driver and uses less gas. C63 advantages: Slightly more pull, and more room. If I could turn back time....
I test drove a 2014 Caymen S last week and felt exactly the same. My Black Series has been a blast and is a special car in it's own right, but I'm at a point where I'm wanting to switch brands, and Porsche has been getting my attention. This new GT4 might be the next one for me, and if I can't get an allocation, I think I'd be happy with a Cayman GTS.
Its done. Order is in and I have I confirmed allocation. Delivery date to be confirmed, but should be this year.
Have decided I will keep the 507 for occasional family duties as well (normally use GF's car for this, but sometimes this won't work out).
V8 muscle some days and V6 precision others. I can't wait!

Forget the G, just remember your buying a VW at the end of the day. And if you were ponying up for a gt3 or turbo, you'd have a car that looks exactly like it for 60k. IE- regular carrera's, caymans etc. That imo, is a huge turnoff.
I live in south florida, i'm well aware of porsche and the exotics market. People will surely buy what they want, and i understand that, but for getting my money's worth, my money won't be given to an overpriced P-car.
Typical south florida, all about appearance. Originally Posted by solekeeper

Firstly, comparing a new car to a used car is asinine. All cars lose a bunch of their value in the first two years.
2nd, hell yes I'd buy a turbo over a gallardo. The turbo is not only faster, more agile, more useable, and better assembled, it also doesn't shout "look at me". P.S. with the release of the huracan, a Gallardo is old news.
It might be overpriced to you, but the market says its priced just fine.

LOL, and no one in Jersey is worried about appearance? LOL.....or anywhere for that matter...........that's something asinine to think it's typical in south florida......Originally Posted by Quadcammer

I drove a cayman GTS a couple months ago. I was really impressed! And wanted a GT4 but then the nightmare to get a allocation made me give up.Originally Posted by NellyRod

Ditto.
When I called to put a deposit I was told it would take a year to two to get a car
Got the C63 instead.Quote:
Thanks. I'm pretty hyped about it. Got the phone call today to confirm July build and September delivery. Originally Posted by hyperion667

Thanks. Allocations of these cars are definitely a problem. Some guys on rennlist say they have had deposits down since last year and still no allocation. There is a problem with a shortage of Light Weight Bucket seats though, so people who don't want these (like me), seem to have jumped the queue. Will be kind of nice to have quite a rare car though.Originally Posted by abcut973

sometimes the wait can be tough; may you take it in stride
And its arrived!
Some not very awesome photos of it, but these are all I have at the moment.

Its a completely different car to the C63, but I'm loving every minute of it.
Manual transmission - tick
Phenomenal traction - tick
Handling and feel - tick
Awesome exhaust - tick
Its an amazing car, very happy I was able to get one!

Looks awesome. First impressions driving it?
Nice GT4, congrats!
I'd try to keep it off the grass, and leave the farming for trucks/tractors.

Nice Bardman
I like the color but if it was me I would go for a white on black wheels.
Is it me of your front lip is already scratched?

Its awesome to drive. It doesn't have the torque of the C63, so you need to wind it up to get to the power band - so its a very 'active' drive. Cornering is amazing, its got so much grip and the beautiful inherant balance of a mid engine car. Its naturally aspirated, and with the sports exhaust switched on, you get this angry screaming wail at max throttle / rpms (I think its louder than the C63 exhaust at max rpms - thats saying something!). Add to this that you row your own gears, and I couldn't hope for much more from a driving experience.Originally Posted by BLKROKT

It was actually scraped at delivery. Because its so low, Porsche have designed that bottom plastic piece essentially as a consumable. Its around $200 to replace, and can be done yourself with two screws with the rest clipping in place. Because I noticed it was scraped when I picked the car up, they have ordered me a new one at their cost - so I'm using this one to learn all anti-scrape techniques whilst waiting for the new one to arrive. On the colour - my 507 is white with black wheels, so I know what you mean. I was just looking for something different this time around.Originally Posted by abcut973
