Tail light removal DIY's

Just wondering if there are any DIY's floating around that show you to replace the tail lights on the pre face lift c63's? Video would be best but anything that helps would be nice. I ordered a set of aftermarket tail lights for mine and am hoping to be able to do it myself. Thanks gents!

although i hope you didn't get these god awful taillights, this video helped me step-by-step with the process of upgrading my oem halogen tailights to facelift led tailights from e-bay:

Thanks for the links guys I ordered a smoked tail light set from ipex motoring. I don't think they look anything like the one directly above. lol

The install seems fairly straightforward and an easy DIY...

I ordered the same ones and i love them. They are very dark though. When you step on the brakes they light up just fine but during the day, they're pretty dark

Looks like the Ipex ones are NOT Depo.

ebay seller "Fishcake" sells the Depo ones. I would go with the Depo ones.

What is the difference between DEPO or not? I had no idea I just ordered the ones that a local guy with a c63 ordered and said they were great.

here is the link:

Unfortunately I don't..this was the only one I was shown and I am going with the dark and light theme (white car) with my car so I went with them without thinking twice. I have a few cf parts I am hoping it'll fit in with that.

Thought I'd update this;

I received the tail lights the other day and installed them yesterday. To my disappointment and dismay my right side tail light brake lamp does not work! Everything else is fine and they look great. It sucks though as of course that is a safety issue as well as looks ridiculous with one side out!

Anyway, I emailed Ipex Motoring and advised them of the same last night, but haven't heard anything as of yet. I will update this thread as the issue progresses, I really hope I don't get screwed over.

Here's a video showing how the one light doesn't work...I checked all connections as far as I can tell and since there is only one big connector to connect there's not much to it....

Here's the thing, I don't get any error message saying that the tail light is not working. It works everything except for the brake light when I depress the brake pedal. Rest of it is fine. You will see what I mean after viewing the video.

Yea just saw the video. I had a shop install them and i just checked the car and the right one isn't fully lit and flickers a bit. I dont think they did anything wrong with the installation.

The install is EXTREMELY simply. All you do is connect the connector from the car to the tail light and that's about it. I just heard back from IPEX Motoring and they said they can replace it but have no stock for another month...which absolutely sucks. So unless I install the stock ones back on and use them until then, I have to run these where one of them don't work. Both options equally suck cause I don't want to go through double the work and install the stock ones and also make it look like **** with the one not working.

bummer to hear that you ran into an issue, as i had no problems with mine being fully functional. i think you should go ahead with the rma process and switch back to stock, especially so since the installation is very easy. i'm not sure about alberta, but driving with a taillight out is just inviting a cop to pull you over, not to mention it is a haphazard choice.

I had to put my stock lights back on but now I am paranoid and don't remember. For the pre facelift cars did only the rear two lights come on when hitting the brakes?? I am confused now that I see it. Any videos or pictures? When I hit the brakes only the bottom two part of the tail lights light up...is that how it's supposed to be? Are the top and bottom parts both supposed to light up when hitting the brakes? So confused now...

I am not sure if I am being confusing or not but I made a quick video.

Is that how the brake lights are supposed to be? For some reason I keep feeling like the top strips should be lighting up too when I hit the brakes?

Hmm I tried to find a few videos on youtube and it seems like that is how the brake lights are supposed to be. Strange I never noticed that before. Only the bottom two parts of the tail lights light up when hitting the brakes.

So I spoke to Ipex Motoring and they said they can either refund me the whole thing if I ship them back or send a replacement. Now the problem however is that the do not have it in stock and will get new stock on March 16th. So I have to wait for over a month to get a replacement even. It is so damn annoying. I asked them to send me a return shipping label or something on Thursday and haven't heard back from them.
