Vandalism! Help!
Hi friend,
Unfortunately, my beloved C63 AMG has been vandalized within 1 months ownership. I live in Boston, MA and we have got a boat load of snow this season, that never seems to end. I had been parking my car in the garage during snow storms but I forgot to for the last one. So my car got snowed in. I managed to shovel it out and everything.
The next morning I went to the car parked on the street and was terrified and pissed with what I saw. The side mirror had been destroyed on the driver side (all parts hanging around) and somehow my tire had a slash/tear in it (also the front drivers side). Not sure if it was a plow truck or something or just someone that can't stand nice things. Either way it seems they both will likely need to be replaced... My insurance deductible is $1000 and I've been searching online and the mirrors go for around $700-900. Should I make an insurance claim for vandalism or pay out of pocket for the new tire and side mirror.
Thanks for the advice!

Sucks about your car. You sure there isn't any other damage? Was you wheel turned out, and was the damage near the outermost section? It may have been hit. A truck I used to own got hit (and run) parked on the street and the only damage was a tire and perhaps a wheel (it's been a while). So it may be an accident and not vandalism (see people don't suck that much - just almost as much ).
I'd check for other damage, and if it's just a mirror and tire - I'd likely pay myself.

Honestly, it was probably a plow. You can try to put in a claim with the city of Boston, but um, yeah good luck with that.
Insurance is also going to hike up rates with claims. If I were you, I'd look for all possible damage, take it in, and see what the repair bill looks like. Anything close to your deductible and I wouldn't make a claim.
Who knows though, maybe you'll get lucky if you complain to someone but with the amount of snow you guys have been getting I'm going to guess they'll tell you to pound sand.
Sucks, but just have to move on.

My insurance covers hit and run, vandalism all that. They counts as not at fault damage I can claim unlimited amount a year without paying deductible also it won't raise my insurance.

I'm fairly sure mine does the same except it goes to deductible.
look at it this way, nows a good time to upgrade to carbon fiber mirror housings.

you got plowed, dude. I've got a garage, and live in NY, and if I was up in Beantown and had a garage there would be NO WAY I'd park my car on the street. My frigging mailbox gets plowed down multiple times each winter. They'd destroy my car. I guess if you can't avoid it, then that sucks, but dear lord if you've got a garage keep that puppy stored away safely. I'm pretty sure plow drivers are running over and into stuff all day and night long. Sorry for the damage, though.

How do they $*%# up with a plow? I live in Calgary, AB, and well I always park in a garage, I've never seen a car get wrecked by a plow. And winters here are hell.

I went to school on Boston. Great college town. But they have some narrow *** streets. That's how plows can eff you up.

Boston plows suck. Happens all the time. Turn your mirrors in when you park and keep your wheels straight. Lesson learned.
