2013 C63 Reverse Camera Guide lines?

Hi all,

I have been searching around and reading past threads about our reverse cameras and how there are no guide lines. I wanted to see if anyone was able to get their's to turn on through the engineering menu. I have read that some people have the option, others do not (following the right steps). I also found that some were able to in other models (GLK, ML, ect.)

I have not seen anyone with a C63 who has been able to do this. Has anyone here with a 2013 C63 been able to activate the guide lines? If so, please share on how you did it. It's crazy to me how MB has not incorporated this into the reverse cameras, especially on the AMG's! Thank you!

Hey Sid,

You would think they would right?! Anyways, I put in some different Google searches and came across this thread. Scroll down about half way and someone posts steps on how to activate the rear view camera guide lines through the engineering menu. I am not exactly what car this was done on. I have not gotten a chance to give it a try, but I will as soon as I have some time. Let me know if you decide check it out!

I just finished the install on my 2012. It has the straight gridlines...but not the ones for the steering angle. Not sure which you mean.

Yes, I was referring to the grid lines. I believe that steering angle has to do with sensors that our cars may not have. So you were able to activate the grid lines when your car is in reverse on the camera? If so, can you list the steps you took? I want to see if I can do that on my 2013. Thanks!

HW setting->HU parameter->Rearview camera->SRVC

That's the only thing I changed. That said, I thought the grid lines were a function of the camera. My grid lines move with the camera when I tap on the camera.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here. If the gridlines were a function of the head unit, then the gridlines would remain stable and would not move regardless of if the camera is moved. What is mean is, if you put the eBrake on, and put your car in reverse and walk around and tap on the camera, the camera image will jiggle around. Being that the image jiggles around, as do the gridlines, it tells me that the gridlines are part of the input being fed to the head unit and not simply being overlaid on the video input.

Again, maybe I'm being stupid...so feel free to poke holes in this.

Can you post a picture of your display screen when your car is in reverse? I am curious as to what your grid lines look like, and how they move as well. That would be very helpful. Thanks!

On MY2010 C63 ///--- Engineering Mode: I got
1. Display
2. HU-diagnosis
3. HU information
4. Most information
5. History information
6. SW Setting
7. HW Setting
I clicked on each everyone of those, got nothing on (RVC)... Oh well, thought I'd give it a try. Thanks

Tried this and the setting was already set to SRVC. I tried the other options in the list under Rearview Camera and it didn't seem to change anything. bummer.

I think you misunderstood. His lines don't move when he turns as he backs up. He can stand behind the car and tap on the camera to make the image vibrate, and the lines vibrate along with the rest of the image. That's the only "movement" that they do.

Thats correct. I'll still post the pic if need be...but its just a picture with the standard lines on it.

My fault, I was misunderstood. Thank you for that. If it's not too much of a hassle a picture would be help as I will try with my car this weekend and see if I get the same outcome. Seems like it didn't work for other folks on here. Crossing my fingers!

I agree, this is sad. My 2013 GLK had the grid lines.

I also noticed the camera is terrible quality as compared to the GLK also.

I think we have concensus that the image quality of the C63 camera is bad, and that the lines are somehow a function of the camera rather than the head unit. Would it make sense to try finding a late-model Benz in the junkyard and swapping cameras?

Not the best pic...or camera for that matter. I need to investigate a way to mount a camera without loosing the LED license plate light. When I do, I'll probably replace the camera with a high quality CCD. For what it's worth, this is the camera I bought that has the lines.
