Vinyl wrapping chrome pieces- Matte or Gloss Black???
Hey everyone. Decided to vinyl wrap some of the chrome pieces on my Magnetite Black sedan.
Will be wrapping the chrome surrounding the windows, the piece on the trunk, and the area surrounding the star on the grill (i'm leaving the star and two straight pieces coming out of the star chrome- like the 507 style).
The place I'll be getting the work done has recommended I use gloss black, as I'll be leaving some chrome pieces (DRL's, badges, etc). They advised going matte if I was planning on getting rid of all the chrome and potentially getting a matte finish on the wheels. My wheels will for now be staying OEM (19 " multispokes).
I've seen a ton of people using matte. Has anyone wrapped with gloss black?
Thoughts?

I think this is the best option. I was also seriously considering going with a gloss gunmetal wheel either this year or next, so gloss would be the best match...

do you think I should wrap the chrome on the DRL as well?
the installer said I should, but a friend said rock chips will eat away at the vinyl.
has anyone painted their trim up front (grill and DRL's)?
what would be better quality and look... vinyl wrap or paint?

I have a white 2014 507 Coupe and the only things I wrapped (or Plastidipped) were the trim around the doors, the horizontal bar on the trunk, and the three emblems on the trunk. I left everything else alone and I like it that way. I even left the chrome door handle inserts, although mainly because I don't want to go through the hassle of removing them and the associated goo that holds them on.

vinyl will hold up fine. Definitely do the DRLs

I vinyl wrapped the Window trim both top and bottom and the chrome trunk strip because even though i took the trim off the car and plastidipped it, it still looked really bad.
I plastidipped the following and they look great:
-Grill
-DRL
-Side Badges
-Rear emblems

i vinyl wrapped the chrome on the window trim and trunk trim with 3M satin black wrap. relatively easy to do, but requires quite a bit of patience for maximum results. a sharp razor, felt squeegee and steady hands certainly help. the trim has been wrapped for months now and has held up just great!

Gloss black for sure. On my white C63, I had wrapped the window trim with matte black which only made the window look bigger and didnt provide a contrast against the OEM window trim. On my mars red C63, I have gloss black and love the way it stands out.
as for the other pieces, I have plasti dipped most of them except the trunk trim which I wrapped in matte black vinyl.

I have the same color C63 as you, I did gloss black on the trunk chrome piece and it looks great, ill try and take a picture later on today. It's ok to mix matte and gloss too. I currently have my sidemarkers, and trunk piece in gloss but then I have matte wheels..its a nice combo.

That looks pretty good. I'll ask my guy if he carries satin.
Anyone else use satin black vinyl?
General question: how does vinyl hold up to the elements? I'm in toronto, which means snow, salt, and general harsh conditions for 8 months out of the year. How long before I'll be replacing the vinyl, and any techniques/products to keep it looking new?
