I can't image that being required (the plate) or that you'd have an issue with the wheel you just bought especially if they are identical in base MB function. Now if you're trying to add the AMG Drive Unit that's a separate matter all together but no less achievable.

AMG RB, I suspect that Chris the Swede is the owner of CKM designs whom I purchased the wheel through and he mentioned having to switch the ECU plate. If he could add his thoughts I would appreciate it. For right now, mine is still for sale.

Right on Swagg3r are you familiar with Ask Carbon? They also offer steering wheels and there's several threads related to this topic in other AMG model forums.

AMG RB Let me ask your thoughts. The new car is Solarbeam Yellow. I want yellow stitching on the wheel. I have seen YouTube videos where people were able to use fabric dye markers to change the color of their stitching without harming the leather. For me to do that on my current wheel I would need to first bleach the current threads white then dye them yellow. Only thing I can think of is to use a Q tip dipped in Clorox bleach on the threads. Do you think it would bleach out the black leather if I immediately wiped it off the leather?

I don't want to get too far afield of this thread topic but lemme ask you this. Do you like the AMG Drive Unit controls? What amount of money gives you peace of mind for insurance if the DIY goes bad?

Personally, I want the AMG Drive Unit and the style of the current steering wheel in AMG GT's so that drives my decisionmaking.

If you set on changing your steering wheel then this may help.

What wheel you have now and for what car did you buy it?

Swagg3r this steering wheel link is provided for reference. I've not purchased anything from this site but it's worth having for comparison and consideration. When/If I ever decide which AMG I'm gonna get, if it doesn't have this type wheel or the ability to upgrade to it and the AMG Drive Unit controls it won't be for me. I'll probably have two wheels eventually; one all Dinamica and one all leather.

Happy hunting.

I got a w205 steering wheel with flat bottom and i am trying to put it in my w212. All buttons work but the new airbag has the colored cables in different positions than the old one. Do I need to cut and solder the new one so it s like the old one? Can someone help me? I will attach some pictures also.

New airbag cable

Buttons swapped out, wheel came with the "Home" buttons, had to get hold of the standard up/down and left/right versions. Not really sure it was worth the extra hassle over the FL W204 wheel, but its done now, and is a marked improvement.

May I know where you bought the steering wheel? Can you give us a link?

Cant wait for someone to try it, its a costly endeavour for me to try it. The edition 1 Steering wheel from the W205 C63 are beautiful.
