I would think it would be a straight bolt on, there's nothing to reprogram. I'd love to swap out with the GT steering wheel.

^ Exactly. I very much doubt you can just plug-and-play the W205 wheel. In fact, I think it will be very difficult to get all the wiring to work right, not to mention the airbag.

I think the swap is possible. When the W205 first came out at my local dealership I noticed the steering column cover was the same as the W204. Same turn signals/same cruise control etc.... The only difference being the gear shifter. If the wiring of the W205 wheel is similar to the W204 meaning same pins to connect shift paddles and airbag I don't see why the retrofit would not work.
Now some will say the airbag might not be suitable since it is a different with a different design and they might be right! But that would be the gamble you would have to make

Also the 2014 CLA45 came with the W204 C63 Steering wheel and now the 2015 CLA45 has been changed to the W205 C63 steering wheel style and does not have a column shifter. Maybe it would be best to order a 2015 CLA45 Steering wheel since they made the switch with the same steering column and no column shifter ive been thinking about this love the modern look of the W205 wheel.

The AMG GT/GT S shares its steering wheel(s) with the W205 C63.

There are three options available:

1) Full Nappa leather with perforated leather at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions.

2) Nappa leather with alcantara at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions.

3) Full alcantara.

All three options have indicator bands at 12 o'clock. All three have "round" tops and "flat" bottoms.

Option 2 on the W205 C63:

Option 3 (W205):

The only thing I don't see working is the "Home" button on the left side... if you have a PFL, that button does not exist.

i could see none of the buttons working. the pre-FL to FL swap required a part from an e-class. or was that just to get the lights to work?

But that was for W204 pre-FL to FL swap.... I cant find that anyone that has tried W204 to W205 swap. Could be totally different animal or could be same issues as W204 FL swap.

I was told the W205 wheel are a bolt on part for the W204's. if you have a PFL C63 you need the updated steering column from the FL W204's or E Classes.

Cant wait for someone to try it, its a costly endeavour for me to try it. The edition 1 Steering wheel from the W205 C63 are beautiful.

I thought exact same thing when when I first saw this steering. Would love to have it on my car as the steering is the part you coming in most contact with in a vehicle.

I hope it works.

Im sure it will work, might just need a steering column from face lifted W204 or W212 to get all the lights to work..... (thats what I read on forums).

Column you need if you install a facelift steering wheel from 204, 212 or 218 in pre facelift 204.
The 205 steering wheel in 204 you either need column or different ECU.

When you say different ECU, what do you mean by that and which ECU are you referring to?

It looks like someone has done it in Germany (on a face lifted W204). Another forum member posted a pic yesterday on here:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...heel-w204.html

I purchased the steering wheel already. It will be some time before I will get a chance to try and put it on, but when I will I will post some pics and notes.
