Trade '14 Edition 507 Coupe for a '15 SLK 55 AMG?
All,
I'm considering this move for one reason, I need a shorter car, so that I can place a new motorcycle either behind or in front of the SLK 55 AMG, depending on the time of the year...
At the end of the day, I have to still own an AMG. Can't live w/o em...
I test drove a Cayman S this past weekend, and no way in he!! could I trade for that car that has absolutely no torque. It's short, and that's why I entertained it. No Audi TTS; me no likey...
Has anyone gone from one to the other? Thoughts/opinions welcome, even if you want to break my b@lls, go ahead, I got thick skin, lol...
Tks/Cheers,
B

I really liked the SLK55 when I drove it at the AMG DA (we used it for the autocross and some evasive braking maneuvers). Is it really that much shorter than a C coupe? The SLK is a fun car and the NA direct inject engine is unique to it.

^^^ Correct, I have an additional foot and a half of storage space. Enough to get the car in and a motorcycle...
Decisions, decisions...

Rent a self-storage locker somewhere close by and store the bike there. Keep the C63.

Don't do this I think you will seriously regret it. The SLk just can't match the torque for starters and you will be very underwhelmed. Furthermore the exhaust note is poor and the sound of the rev matched downshifting is akin to a car with asthma. I have driven one when my wife was planning to sell her BMW M coupe and get s replacement and I was not impressed, having AMgs myself as daily driver. She ended up getting an M3 coupe which lacks torque but sounds s lot better with more room

Or you can get a cayman GTS instead of S. Way better. If i have to choose between the SLK55 and the GTS I'll take the cayman. Much more fun car IMO.

I owned the older SLK55 and it's one of those vehicles I wish I kept. It's a different kind of fun when compared to the C. But it's not a daily vehicle. Specially if you drive 25k+ miles a year.

No reason not to trade if you prefer one over the other... but dont do it just for room for your motorcycle. just google "motorcycle shed" and you'll find dozens of answers for your problem.
