How long to keep / long-term practicality?
I live in Southern California & have owned the car for 2 years. The car is a daily driver, don't drive it on the track and miles are less than 8K per year. The extended service contract ends at 60 months. Does the phrase "the candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long" pertain?

One common theory is that you need to drive these cars in order for them to last a long time, in other words they cannot be garage queens, and your car is not a garage queen since you dd
These cars are complex organisms and if any electronics should fail it could be thousands of dollars and this would have nothing to do with how often you drive it or maintain it, it's just the nature of Mercedes-Benz vehicles so I've read over the years. I have a 2014 AMG model and I've already had four electronic bugs that were repaired under warranty
The presiding theory also is that the more often you change the oil the longer the engine is going to last. Your engine is very reliable among all the AMG engines, and it is a well respected engine. That being said I don't know many people on here who have more than 100,000 miles on their AMG vehicles
My personal theory is never own these cars out of warranty

You don't see many C63's with 100k plus because it is only 7 years old. 7 years x 12k miles avg = 84k miles. Again, that is just the average and I'm sure there is a huge +/- there.
Fact is, we don't really know yet. I've seen a c63 with 130k + miles that seems to be running strong with minimal issues.
Bottom line, as long as you maintain this car properly, and drive it, it'll last as long as you want it to. Obviously you'll have standard wear items like brakes, but we all know this.

It's a high quality solid car. There is no reason it would have any different issues vs any other quality car. Parts prices are high but so are all of the high end German cars and suv's.
Dealers also don't hard sell all these extended warrantees because they loose money on them. Make no mistake they make huge margins in them. There are always the cases of a bad motor or major electrical issues. But I bet % wise they are VERY LOW.
Each to their own though.

Appreciate the feedback so far and would love as many opinions as possible.
This is kind of my concern. At five years when my warranty wears out, I'll have less than 40K miles, know this car was well taken care of, but a little afraid of how nasty some potential repairs could be.

Maintain anything correctly and it will last.
Take care of your motor, keep up with your services. No one can really tell how they will last. Just take care of it and she should be good to you.
PS: The reason I bought the C63 is because the car has the least amount of electronics in the AMG lineup.

Regardless, I keep up with maintenance, diff flushes, coolant flushes, all other fluids etc.
As Kriston said, the least amount of electronics. Compared to the S/CL even the older w140s and w220s they had so many electrical components that are prone to failure, not to mention the suspensions and all the repairs never being less than a thousand dollars per repair. For the C its all simpler and with a good trusted indy it shouldn't be too bad when you do need repairs. Would make sense to opt for a good warranty on those cars but on the C i personally wouldn't, but if you are the type of person who wants to have peace of mind wouldn't hurt to get it.
I have a good indy in orlando who is mb certified, and a fellow c63 owner so i trust him with my car for mods and maintenance (still do scheduled maint at MB, i guess eventually ill switch that too). As I plan on keeping my car "forever" I will eventually upgrade the headbolts and replace the plastic pulleys for billet ones and keep up with regular maintenance. And maybe a weistec stage 3

Thanks for all of the input guys, GREATLY appreciated!
LOL, the last car I leased was a Prius (and had a Smart Car before that ). I think my original posting alluded to if I could have my cake AND eat it too.
Thanks for all of your input/advice for a newbie question, please keep em coming!

60k kms = 37k miles
20k kms = 12.5k miles
30k kms = 18.6k miles

Again, thanks everyone, really helps. BTW, do any of you cover your seats or is that just not cool. After 2 years the leather on these beautiful oyster white seats remain near pristine, which actually surprises me a bit. It's bad enough looking in the mirror and watching my own skin sag, don't want to see the same happen for my baby/beast.

My 09 C63 has 62,000 miles. I have had it for about a 1.5 years and so far, so good. As soon as I bought it, I knew I was due for the an oil change and for a transmission flush. During that service, they found a wire that had been touching the exhaust (aftermarket) and they recommended changing it. It was an additional $ 200 since it was a harness out of the tranny. My whole bill was about $ 900...so besides that, I spent $ 90 on the 2nd oil change and that is as far as I have gone.
I am due for an oil change in about 4-5 months and I think I am going to have them fix a leak on my windshield wiper reservoir that has just popped up last week. I haven't had a chance to check it but I am sure it is something simple. I have a friend with a lift and we are going to try to see where this sucker is coming from. If it is something simple, we will fix it. If it requires more than what we have gotten, then I will let the dealership handle it.
I have owned 102 cars so far and have seen it all. The perfect example is this. I had a 2003 M3 for about 3 years. I bought the car used and out of warranty. I only had to spend money changing the oil and replacing the tires - that is it. Then I also had another 2003 M3 that I actually bought new. I only kept that piece of crap for 1 year. It spent every other week at the dealership. From faulty SMG servos, to faulty window actuators to trims falling apart, to weird noises to leaks to rattly brakes...you name it.
My point is...you never know. If you want practical though, you are in the wrong car.

2012 Diamond White C63 Coupe
I have owned my coupe since June '2012, got it with 250 dealer miles, currently at 51k miles - never had any issues (knock on wood) and I DD it, have gone on multiple rallies, few 1/4 passes, lots of Mexico racing and no issues. I have a great indy shop in West Palm that does all my work, have kept up with all maintenance and no issues so far. I plan to keep this car for a while longer, if not forever pending how these next sets of modifications go.
As long as you keep up with your car and change oil etc it should last a while..we will start seeing more and more C63's reach the 100k mark in the next 18 months
