Car still quiet after cat/resonator delete.
Had my cats replaced with a h-pipe and resonators deleted but the car still sounds like stock and nothing like the videos people have posted. No backfires no pops or crackles, nothing. Purchased the car used with 56k miles. Already has the charcoal delete. Tried all driving modes no difference. What gives?

i've done the same too (mike's H pipe + resonator straight pipe delete) and i've found it to be lacklustre too. cold start is brutal. however, idle is the same and general cruising up to around 2.5k rpm is only really slightly louder than stock.
although when punching it, it gets exponentially louder.
however, i've been told that it is noticably louder on the outside - especially above 3k rpm. i just chalk it up to the car having good sound deadening - even moreso with me because i have an estate. therefore, i generally find myself always driving with the windows down.

Please reset your TCU (transmission control unit) and then try to drive agressive in S/M mode!
You should hear many blips/Pops/crackles when your car shifts down now.
The procedure to reset the ECU is as follows;
1. Turn the igniiton key to the "on" position which is just before you crank the engine to start.
2. Press the accelerator to the floor and hold for 5 seconds.
3. Then turn the key to the off position but do not remove the key, then release the accelerator.
4. Wait at least 2 minutes, the ECU is then reset.
5. ECU is now reset and you are ready to get new rear tyres.
The ECU rest procedure only erases the adaptive transmission and throttle settings. It does not erase any of the fuel, timing or other programming.

I have MBH Longtube headers, mid pipes, X pipe and iPE rear muffler. My car sounds pretty damn mean. It has no cats or resonators. Cruising around it has drone, but its not super loud, but when I step on it, its all hell unleashed!

I just wish it was louder at idle... that's probably my biggest complaint. I want that cammed/lopy/burbly v8 sound you get from a nicely built vette or mustang or any other large v8 with exhaust.

You guys are crazy (insert in my opinion)... The car is tame, quiet, idles nicely and cruises like stock but when you're spirited it wakes up and screams. That's a perfect setup. You're not obnoxious all the time just idling around but can enjoy the AMG noises when you get on it.
OP -- You can try a tune. It is louder than you think on the outside. I'll get a video of mine and post it up for comparison.

No noise on deceleration with secondary and resonator delete? Are you sure it's a 63??
I'm just messing around...

I have gutted primaries and straight piped both secondary and resonators, back to agency mufflers and even punching it its not obnoxious loud.......headers definitely make the sound difference

For a daily driver anyways...

Yeah it still sounds like stock. Not sure what's wrong. It pulls very hard so I know the performance is there. I'm going to try a muffler delete.

Careful of deleting the mufflers. Drone is one of those things that's like a tooth ache, it gets more and more painful the longer it goes on.

I recently installed a "axle back" system on my C300, the cats and resonator were left intact. Magnaflow stainless mufflers replaced the stock units and I achieved exactly what I wanted. A nice growl at idle and the appropriate note during hard acceleration.

I had a 335i with a BMW Performance Exhaust and the drone at cruise was intolerable after 10 minutes. My stock 507 has the perfect combination of nasty startup and aggressive acceleration coupled with silence on the highway. Can't see messing with perfection. But then again, I'm old.

I decided to leave the mufflers in tact and ordered some electric cutouts which will T into the inner oem exhaust tips. This way I can control the volume.
