Header parts clarification

Alright so I'm getting ready to order headers but I want to make sure I'm ordering everything I need. I was planning on getting the MBH headers and the x-pipe. I've already replaced my resonator with straight pipes. If my understanding is correct the headers come off the block and into the x-pipe (replacing the secondary cats) and into the straights (in place of the resonator)? I don't want to order the headers and x-pipe and then realize the x goes in place of the resonator and be stuck waiting for more parts haha. I know this topic has been beat to death (I know because I've been reading old threads all day lol).

Engine --> Headers --> x-pipe or secondary cats --> straight pipes or resonator --> mufflers

That is correct sir. If you want high flow cats, it goes:
Engine --> Headers --> High-Flow Cats--> x-pipe or secondary cats --> straight pipes or resonator --> mufflers

You are correct - but you also need O2 sensor extensions. If you buy from MHP you'll get a better deal than MBH as everything is included. Extensions and even new exhaust flange bolts for where the header flange attaches to the motor.

Thanks so much, I thought that was right but the more I read the more I confused myself lol!

Hmm really? I could've sworn I read that everything came with the MBH kit as well.

I just received my MBH headers, cats and x pipe and they did not come with the bolts but it does come with the new clamps required.

When I was talking to them I asked about extension for the O2 sensors and I was told I don't need them so I hope this is true because I am lining up the install.

I have read before that another member had to get extensions separately. I hope you are right, though - keeping my fingers crossed!

When I got ordered my MHP headers, I received everything needed to install the headers. That included rear O2 extensions, full set of bolts to install the headers, instructions, and great customer service. MHP answered all my calls while I installed the headers with my friend. They even threw in a set of gasket seals for the headers.

Ah, yes, I had forgotten about the gaskets. True. I also got those from MHP.

Thanks for the help everyone. Ordered my ROWs from ECS with the aFe filters and decided to get the MHP headers and x-pipe. Just reached out to Eurocharged for an updated tune so I'll have it ready to load it when we do this install next weekend. I'm super excited!!

You can't go wrong there. For what it's worth, I started with 200 cell cats but removed them later, since we do not have emission checks. 15 hp and cost saving.
That makes me think: Do you need cats? If so, do you want mine? They are original MHP and only used for 300 miles. They are an option, either tubes with cats or so called test tubes without cats. I still have the tubes with cats and no use for them.

How much cutting and welding is involved if I do just headers / cats?
I am interested in getting headers but only if I can pass emissions and do the work myself without a lift lol...

If you get LTHs with x-pipe, it will bolt right onto the stock resonator, with or without cats. No cutting and welding required. However, installing it yourself without lift is a bear. It is very tight and you have to undo the steering connector. There is a risk that your car will not go straight with the steering wheel straight afterwards and may need an alignment, if you are not experienced.

A challenge?

I was not aware of the steering connector.. I am a bit worried now..

LTH w/Cats and X-pipe for direct fitment

Thank you and thanks to the OP for letting me jump in.

Installation is somewhere in the 650 to 900$ range and the respective vendors, e.g. MHP can probably set you up with an installer in your area.

Look up my header install thread. You can see pictures of my steering rack disconnected in order to install the headers. Just mark up the steering column so that everything aligns correctly. The MHP headers come with clear install instructions that makes mention of this.

Oh I will for sure, I'll do the same set up I used for the Maserati video I posted!

Jeff,
You must have gotten the ones I ordered, but never received lol.
O2 extensions etc were in my kit as well, but the one was about 3" short of being optimal for nice and clean routing purposes. Functional? You bet. Optimal? Nope, there was a better/cleaner route, but the one harness wasn't quite long enough..

Now we are into nice to haves and personal preferences - e.g. trading longer cable length for preferred routing. Looks like we are in pretty good shape....
If anybody still needs the gaskets let me know, I did not need the new ones since my original ones were still in great shape. Still have a new set in original packaging in the drawer.

That's odd. Both Wobble and I got a set of gaskets when we ordered our headers.

I know exactly which o2 route you're speaking about. Ideally, the extension should be 12" longer to run the optimal routing, but since it served it's purpose, I won't complain too loudly. In the future, I might make a longer extension to route the cables more cleanly.
