W205 steering wheel on W204 done
just to share my experience
a bit complicated work if you dont want to change your steering column just like me
1) you should find the multi-function button from a later version of CLA/A class which has up/down/left/right icon as shown in picture. not the new button which is on AMG GT/W205 C class
2) then you have to take the chip out of your original contact module in the wheel and retrofit to the W205 steering wheel's contact module box, some modification is needed to fit the pins (because the old/new contact module pins are in different places, you will understand when you have a w205 wheel) and make horn wire harness functional
here is the result, with the new wrapped alcantara and rosso nappa / cf parts the car looks more refreshing now (the orignal sand/black designo nappa is good quality but definately not fitting my style)

thx, more interior and some exterior pictures attached.
some modes include: vorsteiner ff101 wheel / cf side skirt / diffuser ; akrapovic exhaust/ renntech header / mode carbon front lips / ac schnitzer (yes from bmw)hood vent insert.
doors and rear seat wrapped with Lamborghini rosso nappa + alcantara; front seat replaced with recaro rs-g alcantara
now it looks more unique

thx. the racing seat need to be retrofitted on a customized seat rail and i dont get to fix how to add resistant canceler ( the pin socket of the power seat is very complicated with airbag/heating/memory module) i just connect the seat belt sensor which is separated from the seat wire harness

I have actually also bought a new type AMG steering wheel from New CLS, and took my old CLS wheel apart and new one to check the contact plates you wrote here about, believe me for similar people like me it's mission impossible to install the contact plate of older model to the new one because they are way too different.
Maybe you could share some photos or some hints to how and where and what to solder or what pin to move where as you have this nice experience? Would be so great!
Many people would tell you a Big Thank you.

Awesome build! I was skeptical when I saw the AC Schnitzer hood vent, but u pulled it off nicely.

Hi, thanks for your very friendly experience, think this will be very useful and informative for other forum members who have no clue how not simple and easy is such a swap of steering wheels.

if you have the new type steering column, the only thing you need is to find the steering wheel with the right buttons as i mentioned, it is plug&play, no contact module change needed.
if you are the lucky guy with old steering column as i, you have the do some DIY work.
start comparing the 2 differnt contact module, (left in the image is the old/current one from the car) you can not use the old module in your W205 steering wheel due to different shell shape, the only way is to take your old contact module out from the steering wheel on your car and dissemble it, take the core chip out and put it into the shell of the contact module which is from new steering wheel
then you have to make some cracks like i did on the contact module to allows some space for the pins on the core chips.
the reason is simply because the old/new chips have different pins location. - the center 10 pins are the same but the pins for the gear shift down are in different place
you can find more details in the above picture. the top left is the new chip and the right is the old one, you need to put the old one into the shell of new contact module, watch out there are also different 4pin on the edge of each chips - on your old chip the only way is to bend it and reconnect with wires, to make your horns works properly
when finished, trust me- your hard work deserves
(sorry i might not explain clearly since English is not my 1st language but let me know if you are not clear)

Hello, first thank the information provided by KOSMOS.
The second I apologize for my terrible English.
And now I raise my question .....
I bought a w205 wheel (with multi-function button from a later version of CLA/A)
My steering column is the old type (W204 Pre-Facelift)
What steering column that I need to work the steering wheel?
Could anyone give me the reference?
I have discarded the option to adapt, because my current is the 4 wheel spokes, and is quite different from the 3-spoke steering wheel.
A greeting.
and thanks.
