C63 Nitto 555 275/35/18
Pirelli P-Zero's felt greasy. They never hooked. Traction was inadequate.
Hard acceleration at 100KPH would result in wheel spin. Pirelli's spun at any speed. Strong smell of burning rubber when stopped from high speed acceleration.
If i did a highway pull, the tires smelt charred for a long time.
Pirelli's lasted 5,000KM. No burnouts, some spirited driving.
I installed Nitto 555's in 275.
No rubbing. Car hooks much better. No difference in road noise.
Side by side, the Nitto 275 is almost 1cm wider than the Pirelli 255.
The Nitto 275 is also 1 cm taller than the Pirelli 255.
Visually, the Nitto appears imposing installed. It visually suits the car better. It fills the wheel well nicely.
The rear does feel floaty. The car doesn't feel as sharp or razor as it did with the Pirelli 255's when highway cruising.
I'm not sure what this is about.
For anyone contemplating Nitto's or moving up to 275.

That aside, for the price it is a good tire, but for that same price range you might get some dunlops, hankooks or toyos.
im not a fan of teh contis.
i figure i could either by decent such as the super sports, but they will be twice the price at around $400 or so a tyre. or i could go in between with the goodyear assm 2.
or i could just experiment with the invos
The tread pattern on the 555 appears to offer better forward traction than the Invo. Higher treadwear count too.
I've used 555s on Mustangs in the past. Did performed well then.

Pirelli laid next to the Nitto, the difference didn't appear 2 cm.
Less.
If i had to do this again, i think i'll run ET streets on this daily driver.
Only way to put the power to the ground.
Or could i wet a wider rim and run 295'ish or 315'ish.
But can the wheel well accommodate that width or tire.

Every tire has an approved rim width range, and for optimum cornering stability you want to be somewhere between the center and the widest rim width. Those 275/35-18 Nittos that the OP got require a 9"-11" rim; while they will mount on a 9" rim which is what he did, for them not to squirm he'd ideally need a 10.5" wide rim.
The rear wheelwell will accomodate up to a 275 tire, but in an 18" size you'd need at least a 10" wide rim if you don't want the tire to shift and squirm all over the place.
A 275/30-19 tire with stiff sidewalls might be OK on a 9.5" wide rim as the sidewall is shorter so you wouldn't get as much flexing.
295 or 315 on a C63... keep dreaming.
