Engine OIL for C63 AMG, question.

You're not the only one to go WOT in their car. If the oil was really the issue, such failures would be commonplace. I suspect, you just had an engine with some build issue, and MB was looking to blame someone else.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

And no, it's not the 5W-40 oil that caused the issue with your lifters.

With a 50 weight your oil pressure is probably high and you're likely not lubricating the bearings enough.
In before engine failure thread...
I’ve seen also two postings on German forums about people running 5w50 with no problems.
Then there is the fella from Germany that races his car and only runs w50 on his car, he was posting recently, I don’t recall him posting about engine damage.
But I’d like to see the white paper about the M156 and oil.

In this German thread, the moderator mentions that the 5W50 is 229.5 and while not on the current applicable M156 standard, the 229.5 does not cause problems, without specifically saying that he has run this.
This is Joe Quax, he runs 15W50, you remember his thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...tracktool.html
Last tread he claimed using the 5W50 300V (https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/m...S__28GB_29.pdf) for 60k km and castrol 10W60 (https://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/F...PXE-9P9JM7.pdf) for 7k km...
The castrol is thick AF at 100C, wonder if his motor is still going?
