Exhaust

Hello,

I am looking in upgrading the exhaust for a more aggressive sound. Therefore I would like to know the opinions as I am looking into these systems:
- AGENCY POWER ELECTRONIC VALVE CONTROLLED EXHAUST MUFFLER
- IPE exhaust
- Weistec exhaust system

Thank you.

For a very cheap quick mod you can always delete the resonator and swap in an X pipe instead. This doesn't make the car overly loud but when you step on it it will be a noticeable difference.

Total cost would be somewhere around $200 for parts and labor.

Have you tried removing the secondary cats or the resonator or both? Have you put in headers and have had one of the before mentioned removed? Adding an exhaust will drastically change the "AMG" sound.

If interested still though, a lot of members are going for the valve controlled exhaust. Some simple searching will lead you to some very nice threads about exhausts.

Here is one to get ya started . - https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...t-c63-amg.html

Anyone know where in Toronto I can get this done?

Will removing the resonator and swapping in the X pipe pass emission?

Thanks!

Removing the resonator has no effect on your emissions. As long as you don't touch the primary and secondary catalytic convertors you will pass. The resonator delete really brings out the character of the engine, without adding drone.

Thanks for the response. Hopefully someone can let me know where I can get this done locally.

Yes, this will pass. Removing the primary cats or tampering with the o2 sensors is where things get tricky. However, the res and secondary cats don't effect anything.

Thanks for this answer I wondered if removing secondary cats would affect emissions inspections. If not, does anyone know why we even have those secondary cats?

Quiet the car down a bit more to meet sound standards and just an additional measure for controlling emissions. However, they in no way shape or form effect OBDII scanning for inspection purposes. No sensors associated with them at all etc.

There are 4 o2 sensors in this car. There are 2 (1 per side) before the primary cat and 2 (again, 1 per side) after the primary cat. Once you're beyond those sensors nothing will have an impact on CELs in relation to emissions.

THAT ALL SAID ---- If you happen to take your car to a shop of up tight people that are **** about inspections they MAY fail you on the exhaust being modded to have no secondaries. However, this is extremely unlikely to happen because 1, most techs don't even care and just plug your car in and voila, and 2, those who know what to look for on the c63 will likely enjoy it rather than give you a hard time.

The only other curve ball is if you live in a sniffer state where they literally put tubes over your exhaust to get measurements. However, the primaries should be fine to get you through that as well.

I just say all this because I don't want some guy to hack up his exhaust and then come blame me if it doesn't pass. Again, 99.9% of c63 with modded exhausts will pass emissions.

None for now
Delete the secondary cat and resonator; you'll love it.

Thank you very much for the comments. As for now the exhaust is stock and I think I will go with the following, can you give me some feedback on what would be better:

- delete secondary cat and resonator
- delete secondary cat and resonator and have an Hpipe

Thank you.

If you search, there are a lot of sound clips out there with the different options. I just did the secondary cat delete with straight pipes, still have the resonators as of right now, and it's plenty loud! It's actually gotten louder over time since first doing it. Here are the links to a few videos, the tunnel being the most recent.

Same, and I love it. Jonathan Topham, start off with the secondary cats. This will make everything more pronounced/louder, more free and without changing the AMG growl. See if you like that then do the resonator as well if you want more. Just know that removing the resonator adds a bit of raspyness to the sound. Some like it, others don't.

try zoro muffler on dundas, they will finish it up in 30 minutes and will cost around $200 to remove cats or resonators.
