My mechanic just told me all 4 camshafts are also damaged as the lifters ate through them. With the recent ticking noises, I ordered all new updated 32 lifters (2012 SLS 63 versions) and 4 cam adjusters. I have a 2010 with no warranty! FML. Does anyone know the cost of these oem amg camshafts for the C63? This sucks as I thought this car was bulletproof and extremely reliable. I feel torching the car at the moment. ;-O

Read the P/M I sent you.

Anyone who has this issue should have the car taken to a certified Mercedes dealer. These issues need to be documented if we stand a chance to have MB cover this. You may have a chance at getting something good willed. Remember there was a class action lawsuit started over this.

This is something, like the balance shaft in the 272 engine, that should be covered my Mercedes. You will be surprised how far they are willing to go to avoid their reputation being tarnished. Especially among AMG customers.

Just curious what the symptoms are for cam shafts that got eaten by lifters? Just ticking? Misfires? Engine ping?

$4700 sounds about right if you did not need adjusters.

Thought the cams eat a hole in the lifter??

Fined some used cams and get new lifters. There is lots of engines around. Ask Weistec if they have cams. They sell the lifters too.

Getting all new cams for $3100. Total repair job with lifters and cam adjusters will be close to $8K. Disappointed on this car as I thought this motor was bulletproof. Now that i have the upgraded parts from 2012+, Hope there are no other defects and problematic parts as I only have 55k miles and I have properly maintained this car with oil changes every 5k miles. The dealer mechanic also told me I should go back to liquid moly oil with sync in it which is better than the mobile 1 synthetic

Is this at an independent shop or the dealership? If dealership, what did they say about MB picking up part of the bill? Did they say what the cause of the damage was?

Independent shop but a dealer master tech is doing the job after hours. He said dealers are charging them for job if no warranty. The cause is oem lifters and cam adjusters between 08-11 are known to have issue as there's a bulletin and class action on this before. Since I have mods like headers, exhaust, tune, i didnt want to bring car to dealer as i know they will denied anything...

Your cam adjusters are probably fine. You should have went to Benz they would have probably gave you a good discount. That's a big bill to swallow. Send pics of the parts please.

I rather change everything out and not have issues later on now that the motor is apart and labor is already being paid. NO benz dealer as I know they will rape me and give me a hard time since the car is not completely stock. I am getting the parts at wholesale and decent deal on labor from a dealer mechanic doing a side job after hours.

the camshafts are around 800$/each, which is about how much the adjusters are too.
