AMG is doing it wrong.

Yup, this was discussed on the W205 section... I personally can't stand the detached exhaust tips! It looks so cheap, and it's on all the new AMG models.
Also, once you see it, you can't unsee it!!

I was really disappointed by the fake exhaust tips too! They are not pleasing aesthetically but I guess they are far more easier to fix/replace like others mentioned.
The thing that really turns me off is when a car has those fake square exhaust tips and the real round one hiding inside! They just don't look right!
At least if the shapes matched and aligned (like the ferrari or the audi), they would look much better.
Just my personal taste.

So I went to my local dealer today for just basic service.
As I was waiting I went into the showroom and saw the new W205 C63S AMG.
I caught the salesman watching me look at the details on the car. I then peeked underneath the rear diffuser to see the fake exhaust tips myself and saw the salesman give a uncomfortable smile.

Do you know how much an AMG exhaust costs if someone smokes your rear end??? Thousands..maybe even 10k++ if it's like a S65 or something..it just makes more economic sense to have it detached
it isn't about price..benz can slap it on there for you..but what happens if you back up into a pole on accident and screw up your exhaust? you'll go in there screaming..I mean the current exhaust system already has issues with staying in place..if you guys don't believe me go take a look ...even sam i am exhaust passenger side is hanging..it's obvious too..its because the brackets become loose after awhile there isn't suppose to be much of a gap between the diffuser and the tips

Its for fit and finish. The tips arent plastic. It doesnt bother me at all, this isnt anything new. It has been happening for quite a long time with benz. Who cares if the tip is physically attached to the pipes, the pipes route directly into the back of the tip. It makes exhaust removal and adjustment alot easier.

The majority of benzes are all like that or going that direction when they are facelifted or new body style along with every other manufacture.

The dumb thing amg did on the c63s is out the gear shifter by the steering wheel. It's a sports car, make it feel like one and leave the gear shifter alone

You want to hear some messed up off topic ****? I had a 205 loaner for 3 weeks recently, and kept reaching for the gear lever at the center console every time like it is on my 204. Now that I have my car back, I keep reaching for the gear lever at the steering column. Every time. Lol.

So, this is the new gle coupe 63s with plastic exhaust tip and no quad exhaust. This is only adjustifible if you're buying an cheap eco box but this is an AMG ffs. Hiring that Hyundai designer definitely is not the right direction for Mercedes.
Why did I post it in the c63 forum? Because w205 amg is like that as well
In all seriousness, the new model has so much to offer that if you are hung up on the exhaust tips you're not looking at the big picture.
