New C63 Owner - Questions & Pics - Update 12/13 w Vinyl & More Pics
Hey guys - finally snagged my dream car. Grabbed a 2009 C63 and I couldn't be happier so far. I've had some fast cars, but something is different about this one and it puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel.
Few questions:
1) The wheels have been painted black, they are the factory AMG 18" 5 spoke wheels. I have worked with VMR in the past and may go for the V713's, what offsets should I look for? I want to fill out the wheel well but also obviously clear the brakes... From what I've read these cars aren't extremely supportive of a super concave wheel... Would the correct offsets and widths for F/R be 8.5/ +40 (front) and 9.5-10 +52 (rear)? That is where research has led me...
2) Does anyone know of a vinyl shop in SC, NC, or VA? I want to wrap the roof, window trim, and grill in gloss black.
3) For those of you who have upgraded to 19" wheels, how much is the ride affected with stock suspension? Any rubbing?
4) What would a reasonable price be when I sell my current wheels? Solid condition - not curbed, but a very average paint job.
Thanks... Looking forward to being a part of a good forum again. I'm sure I'll come up with more questions.
I'll eventually get real pics... Sorry for potato pic.

Congrats and welcome!! The car looks like it already has a couple mods done, always good. For the wheels, 19" don't affect the ride much at all. Don't worry about selling those, you won't get much for them. It is better to just keep them as a spare / track / weekend burn / just in case tires.

Thanks! I'm in SC now (Columbia), but have family in Northern Virginia, so I'm up there a decent amount... or a few times per year at least.
The headlights are not tinted, the housings are painted. It's a good look I think.
Thanks for the input on the 19"s!
You guys know of anywhere I can get the vinyl done?

I suggest you also plastidip the "fog" surrounds... only a fan of plasti here because mine are painted and chip like crazy being so close to road debris.

Why are HRE's out of the question? Here at Wheels Boutique we are HRE's largest dealer worldwide and we have the entire lineup at our disposal. If price is the issue I am confident that I can find you something that will work for you. PM me some times and we'll chat a bit.

For $2k, I'd most definitely be looking at HRE's new line up of flow formed wheels.
EDIT $2.5k, but Vivid looks to have the hook up.

I don't know much about low end wheels as I've generally tried to stray away from them. But, if I wanted to be in the $1500 price range, I'd definitely be looking at Forgestar wheels. Lightweight, *decently* strong, and all at a fairly attractive price.

Thanks for the input, and thewb - I'll get in touch. Took my car in to have some vinyl work done yesterday. Brought it to Sunsational window tinting in Charlotte, NC. I can't say enough good things about Louis and his shop. He deals almost exclusively in high ends and his work is amazing. He took time to talk to me about all of my ideas, and we worked through everything to make sure it would be just right. He takes his time, and does a fantastic job. If he sees a something small he doesn't like, he just starts over. He has a great eye for making subtle improvements.
I wanted to have my silver window trim blacked out, and the chrome in my grill and foglight bezels blacked out. I also wanted to have the center portion of my from bumper wrapped in black to create the look of depth and the facelift models. We tried several different blacks, and settled on the ones that would best fit my needs. Here are some (lousy) pictures for now, but he did a truly fantastic job. Going back to have my roof wrapped soon.

Did you have bad luck with your VMR's? I had them on my Audi and they were great. I don't have a ton of experience with wheels, but have tried Niche, Alufelgen, and a few other mid-tier companies and the VMR's actually stood up to everything the best.

well obviously you are entitle with your own opinons . Im telling you the truth with out sugar coating it. yes oem wheels cracks too but you must hit them HARD.
just sharing with you ... they should change their name to crackstar. the multispoks you have are way nicer than any of the forgestars.

Really like these two.

What do you guys think as far as colors go? Black, gunmetal, or silver? I'm leaning towards gunmetal.

I was just kidding about all of this rim cracking business...
Also looking at the Forgestar CF5V.
Love the ADV5.0 MV2 standard. Is there anything comparable to these that is a bit more affordable?

Thanks! It will look a lot better with some new rims and springs... Just can't decide if I should do them... The roads in South Carolina are so bad... It's making it hard for me to justify really high end wheels because they're going to get beat to hell.
