Looking to buy a 2009 C63 w/P30- Advice Needed

As the title states- noob here looking to buy a used 2009 C63 AMG. Any advice whether good or bad? Coming from a FBO 2010 335i. Thanks!

I have a 2009 P30. Love the car. Only things to consider are the head bolts, of course. Also, the suspension is too stiff for some people, but I've heard the HR springs are softer, so you can swap those out if you want. The two piece front rotors are expensive, but when the time comes you can replace with aftermarket two piece or the less expensive one piece OEM.

How stiff could they be? Do the brakes make a difference? If not I can get a non P30 for much cheaper with less miles. Any pro's to P30?

It's pretty stiff, to the point of AMG discontinuing them. I've never driven a nonP30, so I can't say how much stiffer they are, but they don't bother me much. P30 gets the alcantara steering wheel and factory LSD, but you can always get an aftermarket. No HP increase with P30, P31 gives you that. What's the price diff that they are asking for?

With P30 you get the 2pcs brakes. Some came with painted calipers. You get alcantara steering wheel, firmer suspension. Does it come with CF trunk spoiler? I don't remember.
All this can be achieved with aftermarket parts. It all depends on your budget and desire to mod. How many miles the car and price?

I've got a 2009 P30 I bought almost a year ago. Prior to that I had test driven 2 non-P30 cars, a 2009 and a 2010. I would describe the ride difference as firm versus stiff. The firm non-P30 will soak up more road bumps where there are times my P30 will bounce me pretty hard. However, already having the LSD in the rear and the carbon fiber interior trim makes it worth it for me. Like others have mentioned, if there is something specific you want out of the car it can be modified from what it is now.

I'd say if you want a sweet street ride that can roar past most anything at a light, get the non-P30 and maybe toss in an LSD to help. If you're looking to do track days, get the P30 as your base and have less up front modifications you'll need to do.

2010 C63 P30
how stiff? VERY stiff...the p30 gives a very harsh ride and i think the jarring suspension has led to more cracking of plastic and rattling in the car.
BUT you get lsd.

as mentioned in the pre 2011 cars your main concern is the headbolt issue, if it's already been fixed great if not i'd either set aside the money in case it needs it or buy a warranty and i HIGHLY advise a warranty.

My suggestion is to look into a 2011+ car if you can afford it, but don't passup a good deal on an older than 2011 based on fear of an issue that may or may not ever happen

I am definitely not wanting a harsh ride, but I do like most of the other options the P30 comes with. Large brakes, alcantara wheel, and the LSD. I will be tracking(1/4 mile) the car like twice a year. If the only thing I have to do is switch out the springs thats no problem. How expensive is it to try to add LSD, alcantara wheel, and larger brakes if I don't get the P30 edition? I assume I can get the speed delimiter with a tune.

The brakes them selves are not larger the caliper is exactly the same pads and rotors are different and lighter

I came from an FBO N54 135i, that car was damn fast, but there is something special about the C63. If you can, if find one out of the affected head bolt range, and a coupe if possible. I wish my budget would have been large enough for that.

I cannot compare the P30 and non P30. However, I do have a 2009 base C63 (non P30) and my car definitely does have the LSD and speed limiter removed (factory options).
Just telling you so you know that you could get these options w/o the entire P30 package.
Also, I love my car! Got to admit though, I do think about the head bolt issue at times even if I've never had a problem. I have an aftermarket warranty also.
Good luck!

Aftermarket LSD will cost between $1k-$1.5k for all parts & installed (depending on where you go). Just getting the steering wheel re skinned..not sure on price but a brand new one is about $1250. Yes a tune will remove the speed limiter.
