I believe the SRS module is under the cup holders area. If logic serves, they are upgrading the module bc some people experienced failure from beverage spills.

I had this done couple days ago at my local dealership. Dropped the car off in the morning, got it back late afternoon. Yes, the module is under the center console so they basically take it apart and replace some wires and a few other components in there. Pretty straight forward.

Thanks guys.
I was kinda hoping they had to remove the entertainment system out of the way. I was going to have them upgrade my AUX cable while in there.

I've never removed the head unit personally, but I thought it was pretty straight forward with the removal tool?

I am sure that it is and I will probably do it later on. I was checking to see if they had to remove it and if so I was just going to have them plug it in while they were there

Correct, but the other end goes into the the rear of the head unit.

My car came with the iPhone 30 pin connector, I am wanting to update it to a newer cable with the 3.5 mm Jack and possibly a USB port

I'm sure you know your car better than me, but if you have an iPod integration kit, that box may be located in the panel accessible from the right outer side of the dash (I know some were installed behind the glove box as instead). If so, you can swap the cable there. FYI.

Thanks. I will look for that when I replace the cabin air filter

Edit.. Curiosity got the best of me so I just walked out to the car and popped the cover off and you are right, the media cable plugs into a box there on the passenger side. I assumed it wrapped around to the head unit.
On another positive note, the 3.5mm Jack is hidden in there as well. Looks like a project this weekend. Need to find my drill bit now so I can move it to the glove box as well

Sounds good. Glad it worked out. Also glad you didn't need to have the dealership take apart your dash for you, and probably break some parts in the process!

Mine was completed last week. It's a 2-3 hour job.
Hard for me to see that anything was taken apart so it looks as though the tech did a good job.

The center console and a couple of vents are all that are removed. The control unit is actually under the dash in front of the center console. Right now I see up to MY 2009 on the W204's. Should possibly be seeing a second recall for the steering wheel airbag soon which shows in my VMI.

Is there a website to check? I have SRS issues and the dealer told me they weren't issuing recall notices yet. That was 3 weeks ago.

Yep. According to the letter I received it only applied to 08-09's of the c class models.

Thanks. I will keep my eyes open. The dealer seems to think it will be a wider range of cars.

Wait, seats need to be removed? Ugh, that sucks. I hate anyone working on my car. 9/10 something gets damaged.

That is what the SA stated. I have no idea what the mechanic actually removed.

Gotcha. The local dealer did mine a couple of days ago. All looks well to me. Thank god!
