LSD and rear tire question help a newbie out
I own a c63amg 507 series. I was wondering what does everyone think about adding the lsd will there be a dramatic difference in normal driving or streight line acceleration. I have owned 3 gtrs and had my fair share of track days and do not plan on visiting a road course with this car. Also the rear tires are pretty bald and the fronts seems to be in great condition. They are yokohamas adv i believe. I wanted to add a set of toyo r888 to the rear and leave the fronts for now. Would that be a poor decision?

I can only comment on the LSD. I added a wavetrac diff and it's made a noticeable difference. I couldn't even pull out of my neighborhood entrance before without the traction control kicking in due to a moment of wheelspin as the inside wheel went through the rain gutter. Now, the back end feels much more planted and progressive, especially in the wet. In the dry, you can feel the back end lock together and just squat. In the wet, you can feel it as well and you can modulate slip much better. The back end doesn't do that open diff jiggle as the brakes transfer power side to side now. And coming out of corners (keep in mind this is on the street so far, no chance to track since the diff went in) the car just feels like it's putting the power down much better. Don't expect to be able to use race start or go full throttle from a dig with the LSD but it is noticeable and makes me want to d1ck punch whomever decided to sell this car with an open diff.

The car is still fun with an LSD. I have a wavetrac also and it is a must for the C63. You only really need to touch the throttle to get the tires spinning and have the car do the rest. Much more control & added safety.
Havn't tested Toyo but I would just pick up some Michelin PSS and you'll be set. It is pretty much the tire choice for most.

I'm adding an LSD to mine because it needs one. Stupid decision not to make it mandatory on these cars.
Stay away from the 888's for the C63. These tires are louder as the car gets heavier, plus its not a good tire for any car above 3500lbs.

You Have The Edition 507, Shouldn't It Come With LSD Already? As Far As Tires, You Have 19" Wheels, Assuming You Have The Stocks On. There Isnt Many Sticky Tire Choices In Those Sizes and Considering Width Is Limited In The Rear and Width of The Rim...

An LSD will just make your car better. One wheel slips are no fun, and an LSD will make the car grip and feel sharper.
If you are running this car with an open diff, and with the stock 255 width rear tires, it's too much and you'll feel a big positive difference with an LSD.

Stick MPSS or Contis. I love my DWS06s, they grip extremely well for an all-season high perf tire. The MPSS just don't last long, but you can't beat their perf for a street tire.
Side note: Not all 507s came with an LSD. The other thing I found about the 507 when I was still looking for a C63 was that not all came with the Lighting package ...

thanks for all of the feedback. I didnt see the lsd as an option on my sticker so i do not think it was included. Plus one tire has a lot more wear than another. I had M PSS on my GTR's and they are a great every day driver tire. I used the r888 on track days and was thinking maybe just use them for grip without the lsd. I think after reading the posts ill put the lsd on Thanks guys and ill go with the mpss.

I have a 2014 C63 507, and I have just fitted a Wavetrac to it.
I have literally only been driving a few days with the LSD, but you can definitely feel the difference.

To the OP - I went with a Quaife LSD -- would've had to do some shaving to fit the WaveTrac. It makes a big difference, with the torque/power on this car you need an LSD.
And what is it with Canada?? The 507's to Canada also included auto-retracting side mirrors, but we don't get them here? Lol.

Did someone here try to fit Michelin pilot sport cup 2's on the car?
I just had Weistec install a Wavetrac on my car and I'm running on 18" P zero Nero with not much grip, they recommended the cup 2 and that I might be able to squeeze 245 in the front and 265 in the rear. I'm toying with the idea of changing my rims to 19" and trying these sizes. Anyone who has the setup or tried it?

Going to 19's will help the look, but will always be heavier than the 18" version of the same wheel, and thus won't help the performance at all. Tire selection also gets much slimmer. Are you sure you want to do that?

Race start just somewhat automates we would do for a launch ourselves.
