Seen this on Instagram, how effective do you guys think it is? Pros and cons?

Dumb. The stock system is plenty good. ROW airboxes are all you need. The snorkels provide cool, fresh air. The pictured system just feeds the motor hot air from the engine bay. No thanks. Waste of money.

What if you extended the cone filters all the way out to the front of the car, right behind the grill?

Will take a lot of work as the engine bay is cramped as it is for C63.
Plus the dirt pick up rate is higher. Doubt it would make any difference compared to OEM ROW boxes.

As stated by others, this engine runs very hot indeed.

I was working on my car a few weeks ago and forgot to connect the air feed tubes....my goodness, the car felt even worse than it has done of late and I was in a foul mood, thinking something was wrong with the car. Once I'd refitted the cold air feed tubes again, the car was back to 'normal'. This is just an example of first-hand experience of a hot air intake on this car.

Having a cone filter like in the pic above isn't going to increase power...not when the stock air filters are of such large volume and the fact that they have a fresh stream of cool air getting to them.

Grey intake manifolds distinguish this apparently.

in all fairness, the snorkels are still feeding "cooler" air to those filters, albeit, at a terribly reduced rate. what about the MAFs tho? where'd they go?

this intake is good if you cut a huge section of your hood off and put a huge hood scoop on to blow cold air on the intakes.

That's essentially what Dad's did on his car years ago.

I've looked into doing something similar to what the C32/36/55 guys do. See these threads for pics:

With the filters behind the headlights, or ideally right behind the grill, they get plenty of cold air. I lost motivation for it when I got my Carbonio setup cheap, but think it could be worthwhile if you can figure out the pipe routing.

lol u beat me to it as I was looking up dads car to post up a picture.i thought about it also and it's not worth the headache doing some big intakes

and for the guys hating I'm almost positive the guy that did this knows how hot the engine bay runs and weighed in the pros and cons to this and most definitely would of done this with a hood scoop.if not he found out a good way to get traction in first gear lmfao

My supercharger set up has a similar intake. But Weistec build an aluminum piece that goes after the throttles where it connects the MAF sensor, then an aluminum pipe goes to the front of the engine where are the filter. I have the Dad's CF hood so the filters get some fresh air from the openings. I try to move the filters in to the bumper but they don't fit. There is not much space in the engine bay. If you look at pictures of JCart clk it does not have the filter boxes like mine but the intake pipe goes thrue the small head lamps.

There are "other" ways to scoop and vent out air. Under the hood ducting is always a good option to keep all the function on the discreet side. As well as "NACA" ducts similar to the 507 vents.

This is how the setup looks like. The vents in the hood helps get some fresh air.

Well the common sense tell me that the filters in this position are getting hot air. I am just showing my Weistec set up. If you look closer the MAF are plug on the aluminum piece connected to the throttles. The system works perfect at least for drag and half miles events witch is the primary use. The car is constantly in the 9's in 1/4 and 180-185 on half miles each time. Now that I'm using the car more on the streets I will look for other options. The mayor problem is that there's not much room so some custom work has to be made.

Mario, my comments were in no way in relation to your setup...I have seen that setup in person and if its like the other I saw there was isolation from other parts of the engine compartment and the hood vents are DIRECTLY above the filters...I was referring to the ops original pic....your car is nirvana to me
