Takada airbag recall

Doesn't the below apply to your 2013?
Transport Canada Recall # 2017145
AFAIK they're ALL affected...
Transport Canada Recall # 2017145
AFAIK they're ALL affected...
I am realistic. I expect that as my car ages it will get on the list but it will likely be 2023 unless DB decides to be proactive and once caught up - if they ever do get caught up - will change it voluntarily.
There are no recalls on my car that I or my Service Manager can find.

guys: I found this MB site to enter VIN to find out if your car is affected by the recall: https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/recall

Zone A (CA, TX, lower SE states):
States with greater temperature cycling and absolute humidity. Time in service until significant propellant degradation may occur is projected at between 6‑9 years.
We may yet see an explosion - pun intended - in the numbers of airbag-related injuries. I did not know the window had widened as early as 2014.

Not heard anything about this in the UK but saw about it on the news today, The link from which one of you provided means I should be fine right? 2013 c63 amg.
The link said c class to 2014 but in brackets said only effected c63 upto 2012?
Also pretty sure on mine if its just the passenger airbag you can turn it off by inserting the drivers key into the dash near the glovebox?

Do the Pre-FLs have both Driver & Passenger Air Bags affected in the Recall?
My 2012 FL only states the Passenger side is affected.
Or is it only a matter of time before they announce recall of both Driver & Passenger for FLs?
If so inclined, one can easily disconnect the seat wiring harness underneath on the affected side, thereby preventing operation of that airbag (i think), but one has to carefully weigh the risk/benefit of this against a possible faulty airbag deployment. . .

SUMMARY Certain Mercedes-Benz vehicles are equipped with passenger-side front airbags provided by the supplier TK Holdings Inc. ("Takata"). On January 3, 2017 Takata filed another Defect Information Report with NHTSA announcing a potential defect in some of the subject inflators. Based upon Takata's information to date, "Takata is not aware of any test ruptures in ballistic testing of returned inflators in the designated categories and model years or confirmed field incidents of the subject non-desiccated ammonium nitrate inflators other than those already under recall as detailed in prior defect information reports. Out of an abundance of caution, however, Takata is filing this report in cooperation with NHTSA to promote public safety.
CONSEQUENCE
According to Takata, activation of a non-desiccated ammonium nitrate inflator with degraded propellant may result in an inflator rupture. An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the air bag and into the vehicle interior at high speed, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants.
----------------------------------------------------------
To clarify, I suggested one may consider disconnecting seat harness underneath seat to prevent deployment of affected airbag and hence avoid any dangerous inflator rupture

It would seem from below, taken verbatim from my Recall notice when checking my 2012 VIN that it is for a dangerous rupture of the inflator:

Hmmm I must have read some other notice.

I spoke to my dealer and asked to have the front airbags disconnected. They flatly said "no" due to the airbags being part of an integrated safety system, so therefore liability issues were involved. I'm thinking that I should ask for a rental and have on record that I was turned down (presumably).

If you want the bloody bags disconnected do it yourself or find an indy who will do it. We lived for decades without them. The key still is to stay in the vehicle so seat belts are a must but it is your choice in the end. Of course if there is an incident then you cannot sue them but whether you get a face full of scrapnel is very much a random thing.
My car (2013) is not yet on the recall list here in Canada.

Friend of mine is also going through this recall with his acura. He told them he doesn't feel safe driving the car. It's endangering his passengers/family. They gave him a rental car. Catch is he has to park his affected car at home and cannot drive it (mileage is recorded). He's had a rental for like a month now. Someone he knows that did it too has had their rental for 3 months now. Something to thing about. Keep the mileage low on all your cars and beat the **** out of a rental. Not to mention saving money, by using 87 octane!

Lots of manufacturers have been getting replacement parts and installing for a while now. There is just a huge wait for manufacturing, so the dealers that are replacing are only getting small batches of parts. I waited for nearly a year to have the passenger bag done in my ISF. Waiting and waiting - and I live in the "highest risk" zone because of the year around heat and humidity. When Lexus finally approved it back in March, I called the only Hawaii dealer and was told that Lexus hadn't started the recall phase for my car and I was wrong. After explaining they were wrong and telling them the technical bulletin number, the service adviser said, "Oh... let me go check..." Voila. Parts were there and they fixed my car two days later. It was later disclosed to me that there was a "recall list" and they were prioritizing cars bought from the dealership (and since mine wasn't...).
Anyway, the solution from Lexus to any concern about it going off was for passengers to not ride in the front...

according to the MB website for the recall, the passenger airbag is affected too. I guess if I swapped to a FL wheel or even a w205 wheel, my ball would be in the fairway

What's with that "correction" in the details? Is it just a module replacement now?

Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the front driver air bag module.

So does this mean:
1) PFL -- Steering wheel airbag affected. Whether it's the module or airbag itself is up in the air?
2) FL -- Steering wheel airbag not affected. Passenger airbag affected.

I had asked a similar question above as well.
So far, what I can deduce:
1. PFL: The Driver's side is affected. Is this the Inflator, or the Module, that is affected?
Is the Passenger side affected too on PFL?
2. FL: Passenger side is affected. Both BLKROKT and I have FL 2012 models, and our recall states only Passenger is affected. This appears to be the Inflator.
Any other FL cars out there with possible Driver's side affected?

Yes, PFL driver and passenger airbags are affected. I checked the MB recall site. Not sure what is specifically affected but it makes them IEDs for your face...

Interesting differences. Both sides, complete airbag assembly:
Once parts are available customers will be sent a letter asking them to go to an authorized Mercedes Benz dealer who will replace the Driver side front airbag of the potentially affected vehicles. Recall Campaign 2016020003 Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-877-496-3691.
