I got my letter today from corporate confirming what my SA told me: recall is pending. Who knows how long it will be before they make a replacement. Just FYI.
I don't think the replacement will be anytime soon. They are still using the defective air bags on cars straight off the assembly line. Estimated recall wait: 2020

i'm hoping it doesnt impact resale value as i've heard some dealers wont buy or sell any of these recalled vehicles
it's amazing how long it takes to design new airbags
It's not that it takes time it costs $$$
The longer they wait the more people will forget, cars will become worn/broken/retired and the less they have to replace

You are indeed deadly!
The auto mfgrs are eager to get these replaced. The longer they have to wait, the higher their legal claims will be when people get injured or die.
Fortunately for us, risks are low: 10 or 11 deaths (90% in old Hondas) over about 10 years. Each is a tragedy, but it's safer than watching fireworks in France . .
We just got recall notice from Jeep for our Wrangler. Same deal - no parts available yet, will let you know when repairs can be scheduled.
They're dividing the country into different risk regions and tackling the states with high heat and high humidity first. Is Mercedes doing something similar?
With Wrangler, the recall is just for the passenger airbag. Same with C63? Is it just PFL models?
so what's everyone doing in the meantime? my dealer still doesn't have any parts. are you guys just not driving it? rental?
Friend of mine is also going through this recall with his acura. He told them he doesn't feel safe driving the car. It's endangering his passengers/family. They gave him a rental car. Catch is he has to park his affected car at home and cannot drive it (mileage is recorded). He's had a rental for like a month now. Someone he knows that did it too has had their rental for 3 months now. Something to thing about. Keep the mileage low on all your cars and beat the **** out of a rental. Not to mention saving money, by using 87 octane!

You all still have seatbelts in your cars right? Just drive them. You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than getting injured via a sometimes defective airbag.

Good tip. However, the question is how long it will take for his parked car to be fixed. Now the mileage is recorded, he wouldn't be able to move the car much. The longer his car sits, the more likely for problems to arise for that car. Contrary to popular beliefs, it's worse for a car to sit parked all the time and not driven.
I have received two rounds of letters. On two different cars. Neither of which I own anymore, and via MBFinance they should know that. One was written off, and they should know that too.

Me too, except it's for the same car and they still say I can't take it in and to wait for further instruction....wtf
