Brake Pads for 2012 Performance Package Plus

I need new brake pads and have some confusion. I've gone through a number of forums and there seems to be some contradictory info being passed along.

I have a 2012 Performance Package Plus C63 with the U70 coded red calipers and the 1.5 or 2 piece rotors (depending on who's commenting). The part number the dealer gave me for front pads is 0074206520.

Some websites like partsgeek or pelicanparts specifically state that certain front pads are for P30, P61 or U70 coded cars while other pads are for non P30, P61 or U70 coded cars... On pelicanparts.com, the pads for the U70 code also match the part number the dealer gave above.

There are some on here that have stated the pads are the same for all vehicles. As in there aren't two versions of yellowstuff pads, one for the U70 (red calipers) and one for the other versions.

Can someone with DIRECT knowledge of this chime in please. Why would TRW for example sell two versions of front pads, one for U70 and one for non-U70, if as some people on here state that all pads are the same?

Thanks!!!

You have the "1.5 piece" rotors. And the pads are identical.

Correct. Go for some good pads and fluid and call it a day. Plenty of options to choose from. Porterfield seem to be the most common due to their midrange pricing as opposed to the top tier Endless pads.

This. The Poterfield R4S are excellent. Clean and quiet too.

+1 for Porterfields. Love mine. Haven't had a chance to use mine on the track though.

Porterfields are great for the money.

If you have more to spend (JDM street/track brands) Endless MX72 or Dixcel Z Type.

I can, however, see why people don't go with Endless. They're just stupid expensive. I only went with them cause I got a deal from a buddy.

Incredibly expensive for pads. But to be honest if I was tracking more than 3x a year I would grab them.

Both mentioned brand/types are the most expensive but have very aggressive "initial bite", one of the highest rated for a "street" pad.

The most important thing for any street car (esp for our cars ~ 4,000lb+) is getting the beast to stop on a dime in traffic , roadside and environmental situations. Higher cost and a fair amount of brake dust is the trade off.

This is exactly why I got them. A few times now, I've felt that the weight of the car has been able to overwhelm the brakes.

A typical 70 mph to everyone on the freeway slams on the brakes for no reason at all situation is where I've truly been sketched out once or twice.

I am thinking of one particular stretch of highway right now, and the reason its so damn scary is said same texters are all sailing along at 20 over, right on each others bumpers. If you try to leave decent space between you and the car ahead some idiot will slide right in between you, and THEN start looking at his phone distractedly. Its impossible to travel at a safe distance cos someone always halves it, so you play the same lotto as they do.
