Would you buy a vinyl wrapped c63 from a dealer?
I'm looking at a 2013 c63 amg coupe P31/lighting package/keyless go at a dealer across the country right now. The interior is caramel/sand and the exterior is vinyl wrapped in white/matte white from what I can tell. Unfortunately, you can clearly tell it is wrapped, because in the photos with the doors open, the door sills are bright red. I called to ask them if they knew the make/type of the vinyl so that if I purchased, I could finish the wrap inside the doors. Of course, the sales guy had no idea, and when asked, he also had 0 idea if the paint underneath the vinyl was scratched/dinged/messed up in any way. So that's my question to you all. Would you ever consider buying a vinyl wrapped c63 with 0 idea of the condition of the paint underneath? I am considering using it as a bargaining chip to try to take 2-3 grand off the price, but don't know if it is worth the risk.

Tough call. You could reason the PO had the wrap put on to cover up bad paintwork...or had the wrap put on to protect pristine paintwork.

I know exactly which car you're talking about, it's out my way. It might be okay, but I wouldn't bet on it. Reason being, a car in that price range should have quality work done which is usually representative of the previous owner. The fact that the previous owner got a wrap might be okay, but it cost extra to get the door jams and engine bay wrapped too and it looks like they chose to cut corners. I would cringe every time I see the original color of the car when getting in and out the door.

Yup, it is out in Cali. I agree with your thoughts about skimping on the wrap. I am on the east coast, so it is double site unseen. Decisions, decisions. I've also never seen the sand/caramel leather in person, so really on the fence about it.

The wrap reminds me of the people who get a clear bra but have it stop half way on the hood/fenders lol. Plenty of C63's out there, I would just be patient (yes it's hard) and keep looking.

I would.
Mostly cause of the interior color. I think it's amazing.
Now the next question is if you intend on keeping the wrap or not. If you don't, have it in writing that if the paint is damaged below the wrap that the sale can be voided and you can return the car for a full refund. Or see if you can get them to remove the wrap.
If you want to keep the wrap, I personally am leaning towards the paint being okay. Of course that's an expensive assumption. Lol
Sometimes dealerships will have cars wrapped too to increase appeal. I might even call back and speak to other people and inquire about the wrap just to try and see if someone will admit to the dealer wrapping the car.

That would be odd for a MB branded dealer to wrap a car, but I guess anything is possible now a days.
One thing I noticed is that they offer a 1-2 year easycare warranty. I thought that was odd, why not the Mercedes extended warranty?
One more thing, the wrap in my opinion is an awesome color so if it had extended warranty and you could get those door jams and engine bay color matched wrapped, I'd get this one.

Why would a Mercedes dealer, or any dealer for that matter, not remove a half-assed wrap before selling? Something's not adding up here...

Agreed, that is what is causing me to hesitate. Then again, it can just be ignorance not realizing that it will cause consumers to hesitate. The sales guy I spoke with seemed clueless when I was trying to ask whether there were any scratches or issues with the original paint work. He offered to send me pictures of the car. I then asked, before/without the vinyl? He said, no, pictures of the car on the lot. I ended the call shortly after...

OP- Does the dealer have pictures? Just curious how the car looks, especially the door areas.
Personally, I'd never buy it and continue my search, just too many risks and red flags.

If it's any help I actually test drove this car a couple weeks back when I was looking to buy one. Overall the interior looked awesome, and the overall drive was great. As for the wrap when I went around the car for a closer look it didn't hold up to the expectations I had for it, and in the end I bought a different C63 coupe. If you really want a red C63 coupe though I would pay the money to fly out and see it for yourself.
Also they'll take 3k off what it's listed for right now, at least that's what they offered me.

Yes, but only photos of the doors wrapped. The coupe is listed on any of the big car buying websites in the mid 40s range out in Calabasas.
