Brake pad issue- need help
Guys,
I ordered new pads all around and was sent A0074209320 for the rears. They appear to be identical to the old pads, however, the old shim or backing plate does not fit onto the new pads. The little clips have no where to go on the new pads. Is this the wrong pad? It has a different number written on the pad than was on the box. A0064207520 is written on the pad itself. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't think they're necessary. Most aftermarket pads don't come with backing plates, and the OE ones usually don't fit.

When I changed my pads stock for stock I didn't add any additional plates or anything. I just used the new pads as they were.

Should only need to get up to 60 for OEM pads to bed them. 10 hard 60-20 stops and let em cool should do it.

OK I have to laugh at this, but only cos it is something I might do myself.
"Panic button, panic button, where did I put the panic button? Damn! Now I can't even find the panic button and I need to press it!!! WHO'S GOT THE BLOODY PANIC BUTTON?!?!??"
Lol. This has got me written all over it.

I did it without putting the metal shim back on. If you are saying that the shim should have been stuck to the sticky part, that would not have worked as the metal tabs on the top prevented it from laying flat. If you are saying that the pads have built in shims; i.e., the sticky part is the shim, then I understand. But there was no way that the OEM shim from the original pads would fit onto the new pads.
In fact, it looks like a shim would "clip" onto the back of your picture if the shim clips went just outside of the white numbers on the top of that pad. On the original pad, those indentations do not exist as the clips are on the outside of the shim and pad.
