Removable rear wing?

I'm considering getting a rear wing for track use and what not, but since the amg is my dd, I would prefer to have it removable. The only one I know of so far is the renntech rear mounted one, anyone know of other options out there? Thanks ahead of time.

Yeah, that ugly Renntech license plate mounted one is the only one that's easily removable. I was considering it myself until I saw one in person and boy was it bad looking. Careful though, I don't think it will fit if you have a trunk lip spoiler on.

Wow, that's a weird wing. I couldn't imaging a license plate bracket holding that thing at high speeds, but idk what theyre capable of.

If anyone wants to see a pic

I really wonder how the RennTech is held on.

Honestly, your best bet would be to just get 2 Trunks, and swap it. I can't reckon swapping a trunk to being "too" difficult?

By the 4 license plate bolts. The forces on that wing will constantly be pulling the mount away from that area. I can't see how it would hold up at high speed.

I was actually looking this up, and there is a supporting bracket that comes with the wing

Mercedes-AMG
Our removable license plate wing is mounted directly to the trunk (as described in instructions) and the license plate with frame go on top of the metal bracket.
This wing was tested with our C 74 Concept Car during countless races and racetrack events. We never had the smallest issue with movement or even 'rattling' of the wing.

Beside that, our wing is designed to fit in combination with our decklid spoiler, as seen in the picture above.

Correct me if Im wrong, but they are creating downforce here, so that would actually almost be pushing that bracket IN TO the trunk. The air pushing down gets translated via that arm. If that wing itself was actually vertical, or in a 'barn door' orientation, then it would be acting like a sail or an anchor and THEN there would be an issue.

Good points. Still horrendous-looking, but probably effective. Which is what matters.

I think the issue you would always have with a removable wing, is that of holes for mounting and water seepage etc in to those when the wing is not mounted. You would have to have some type of plug, and that would be ugly too. Plus, anything easily removable is never as solid as something permanent. If you want it, I think you probably need to have it all the time. Or swap trunk lids, as Phil suggested.

On the plus side, at Cars n Coffee you can have a nice little sideboard for creamers, cookies etc

Well, you could just swap the license plate bracket too.

It kind of just adds up to extra work no matter what you do. Better than nothing, I suppose...

On a side note, c74...

Looks pretty cool.

Hey Renntech

Do you have any C63 AMG with the DTM Wing by Renntech. I have a 4 door w205 model and wanted to know if any of your customers ever put one on for a 4 door. I don't know how they will look as wings are usually for coupe cars. Do you have any in stock in South Florida to be able to temporary present it in place to see how it looks before buying?

Im in an Audi SQ5 right now. Nice vehicle, drives the beauty, but no AMG lol.
I wanted to drive something completely different, and this is the vehicle my wife wants. Ill drive this til something really sets my pants on fire (maybe a bad choice of words, considering the circumstance lol) and then I'll pick that up and give the Audi to her. Nice thing about the SQ is there arent a lot of mod parts for it, so it curbs that urge. RIms and snow tires, some lowering links, and that about does it. A ton of tech in the car, they have this cool virtual cockpit thing where you can change the dash around to display whatever info you want. And it has every. single. option. so it has air suspension, the trick sports diff, heads up display, ventilated seats, cooled cup holders everything, so very nice to drive, just not nearly as visceral as the 63 and while it steps out ok I still miss the punch. The GLC63 is a horny little rig in the same category, but they are still very rare and pretty damn pricey.

Sounds like a good daily; I'm exited that MB now has the virtual dash option in the 2019+ C-class. I think a C43 will be a great performer especially up north here, and also the upgraded turbo potential, the c63 is pretty solid as well. Definitely considering one.

Canada is getting the C43 wagon apparently. That has some appeal.
