A few days ago I stopped by the Mercedes of Albuquerque dealership and did not have the best experience. Their marketing department happen to reach out to me the following day to ask how things went. I briefly described my experience and the following day I received a call from the general manager who offered to drop a C63 at my home for a test drive.

My main goal today was to establish a good relationship with my dealer and explain to them exactly what I am looking for and my time frame to buy. I would say mission accomplished. The General Manager Tripp Steele runs three dealerships, Audi, Porsche, and Mercedes and understands customer service and was fantastic to deal with. These people are willing to find the exact car I need.

Some of you may remember that I drove a 507 earlier in the year but I was not able to experience the great handling of a C63 or be able to truly put one though its paces. That all changed today. The sales person was amazing she was so pleasant to talk to and encouraged me to drive the car the way it was meant to be driven.. a sports car. We saw twisty roads and triple digit speeds.. the car was amazing.



The car they brought was a 2013 C63 base sedan with 23,000 miles. It has dark tint, carbon fiber spoiler, and jet black wheels all look fantastic on a silver car. In the end it was a fantastic car at a great price (GM offered the car at 39k) but it didn't have all the options I am looking for. No power seats, LSD, lane assist, exc.

 

Are you sure it has no power seats?

 

Did you get any interior shots? Thats so weird.

 

Sorry no interior shots..seats were black w/ black alcantara.. I had to pull a lever to adjust the drivers seat and there were no controls on the driver door

 

Sounds like it doesn't have AMG leather package then, power seats come with that package I believe.

 

So weird cos the ad for that car even mentions seats....

 

Still, even down to the bones, it's an AMG, and the engine is what you look for.

 

For the MB-Tex the seats are sort of half power where the front/back of the seat is manual, but the tilt and up/down are power. Controls are on the side of the seat.

 

I would be curios to see the vin of this car and run it through the decoder.
I have seen a C63, when I was shopping that had a weird big circular knob by the side of the seat.
I think there could be a weight savings option or maybe a power seat deletion option for the purpose of weight savings.
I mean removing what? 6 motors from both front seats may be worth 50lb
The car I saw was a 2011 white, the interior was no leather, the outer side of the seat was black and the inner part of the seat was black & white square fabric pattern.

AMG Select fabric interiors 718, 701, I think I saw these called AMG sport seats.

I don't think we can even get MB tex or fabric in our cars in Canada. Never seen such a thing.

 

I tried to find something related but I couldn't so there ya go.

 

I finally managed to get photobucket to work. They have so much advertisement it's amazing it works at all.

And I'm almost sure I saw a different name for this seat, I think I saw it as AMG sport seat.
I'll try to find where that article was.

My 2013 with the Dinamica/Leather seats has the half manual, half power option with the large knob for adjusting seat height and front lever for changing distance to firewall. Tilt, bolstering, lumbar, etc are all controlled by 5 other buttons; 3 on the "inboard" side of the seat, and 2 on the exterior facing side.

I didnt give it a second thought until now, but it looks to be a sport seat option?

 

So then the door card insert for controls has to be different too and there is no wiring going into both doors, for seats.

My car has this type of seat as well. I actually thought it was the standard seat until I joined this forum. What's odd is it seems to be very rare to have this setup. I guess I am one of the few that would much rather have the Dinamica/Leather combo than all leather and limited power options.

 

Those trunk badges don't look right.

 

Someone probably debadged and then rebadged... poorly.

 

This car has all the same data up to the last 6 digits of my car which in 801757 so I am confused because the seats you seem to be seeing are more consistent with a C350 than a C63.
That said as 604 C63 notes in Canada fabric pretty much disappeared on all cars sold in Canada in the early '90s and the vinyl MB Tex is really old technology.
My seats are two tone red and black with full power adjustment for height, tilt of the cushion angle of the back rest and adjustment of the side bolsters in the seat backs.
I am not sure which code refers to the seats and which to the door panels but my codes for two tone are X50 and X83

 

You probably already know this, but your car has the same data in the VIN number (except for last 6) because its the same make & model & year - nothing in the VIN would provide any differentiation about seats.
